VALORANT developers talk about the esports plans

All of the players who are hoping for a fresh start in VALORANT ask themselves most of the time - “how the VALORANT esports will look like?”. Product Manager, Anna “SuperCakes” Donlon, and Design Director, Joe “Ziggs” Ziegler were interviewed recently by ESPN Esports and answered some of the questions related to this topic.

“Esports is something that grows from the game and I think that we are going into this hoping and wanting it to be an esport, a really big esport if that’s what the community is looking for,” says Donlon. “There is a lot of interest already, and we are interested in scaling it. I just don’t think our plans are such that we can say, what the competitive esports of VALORANT is gonna look like and like, you know, coming now,” she elaborates further.

“I think we really want to make sure this is an esports that can grow with the players who are really interested in the competitive layer of VALORANT,” adds Joe Ziegler. “Honestly, sort of growing in esports these days is a lot more complicated because esports is so big these days, there are so many different partners to work with.”

Other than this, Ziegler mentions that they are currently making a team in charge of the competitive aspect of the game. They will also work non-stop to get in touch with the organizations and the players who are interested in the VALORANT esports, to get everything in order.

Once again we get a clear message that Riot Games want their new FPS game to be truly successful as another major esports title. They want to make sure the players will be motivated enough to play the game and will develop their skills while playing on the highest level of the competition. All of the departments and teams are working on delivering the most competitive version of the game that will be liked by everyone and will grow together with the professional community in mind.
