VCT Americas 2026 Stage 2 Play-Ins Preview: Can Tier 2 make history?
The draw for the VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Stage 2 Play-Ins stage has been revealed, setting the stage for a series of exciting matchups that are sure to entertain fans. The Play-Ins will allow several Tier 2 rosters the opportunity to prove themselves on the big stage and secure their place in the next phase of the competition.
KRU vs BESTIA
Despite avoiding a 0-5 record, KRÜ Esports have struggled to find their footing this stage. Following roster changes after Stage 1, the team has been unable to find consistency in the region, losing every series except their final Group Stage match against Sentinels. However, that victory could serve as a much-needed confidence boost heading into the Play-Ins, giving the roster a chance to turn its fortunes around and enter the next stage with renewed momentum.
As for BESTIA, the team could prove to be a surprise against a fragile KRÜ Esports. While three players are set to make their Tier 1 debut, two of them, Vicente "Tacolilla" Compagnon and Marco "Melser" Machuca, already have regional and international experience from their previous stints in Tier 1.
The squad could pose a serious threat to KRÜ, particularly if they manage to secure a convincing victory on the opening map. While their lack of experience at this level could work against them, it could also fuel their hunger to prove themselves.
It is also worth noting that BESTIA will enter the tournament on a six-match winning streak, giving the team plenty of confidence in both its individual performances and overall synergy heading into VCT Americas 2026 Stage 2.
ENVY vs M80
This matchup quickly became one of the hottest topics on X following the draw. Fans believe M80 could have an “easy ride” against ENVY, who enter the Play-Ins after finishing the Group Stage with a 1-4 record. Many are already looking ahead to a potential matchup against Sentinels.
Should M80 secure the victory, coach Adam "kaplan" Kaplan and Mirel "Kyu" Braco Hrustemovic would have the chance to face their former teams in what could become a highly anticipated “revenge” series.
Sentinels CEO Rob Moore has already reacted to the draw, jokingly asking whether the VCT Americas “script writers” are planning to make an M80 victory over ENVY obvious enough to set up a matchup against Sentinels and fuel the storyline.
Realistically, considering ENVY’s recent performances, it would not be a stretch to say that M80 have a strong chance of putting together a convincing series. The team enters the Play-Ins on a 15-match winning streak, having remained undefeated throughout VALORANT Challengers 2026 North America: Stage 3.
However, ENVY still have a roster packed with experienced players who cannot be overlooked. If they manage to find their form, they have more than enough individual talent to make this a difficult matchup. VALORANT Champions winner Max "Demon1" Mazanov and duelist Angelo "keznit" Mori could pose a serious threat to M80.
FURIA vs 2G
FURIA are currently going through one of the toughest periods the organization has faced in recent years. In the Group Stage, the team failed to secure a single victory.
The problems began after a disappointing Stage 1 campaign that ended in an early elimination, followed by further roster changes ahead of Stage 2. Since then, and amid several controversial developments, FURIA have struggled to find the right direction and establish a clear identity for the team.
This could make 2GAME Esports the perfect team to catch FURIA off guard and kick off their VCT Americas 2026 Stage 2 run with a victory. Despite the issues surrounding the VCL 2026 - Americas Last Chance Qualifier, including 2-hour technical pauses and a rescheduled final, 2GAME remain confident in their roster and their ability to compete at the highest level.
This marks the organization’s second stint in Tier 1 following their promotion through Ascension in 2025. After being relegated, the organization returned stronger, determined not to waste another opportunity to compete at the highest level with a talented roster. Former LOUD and FURIA player Gabriel "qck" Bertoni is returning to the big stage, alongside Eduardo "xenom" Soeiro and Leandro "frz" Fukuda Gomes, both former players of MIBR.
Cloud9 vs Fluxo W7M
This is arguably one of the hardest matches to predict in the Play-Ins. Cloud9 have struggled to find consistent success for quite some time, but the organization managed to turn things around toward the end of the Group Stage, securing victories over both KRÜ Esports and 100 Thieves.
Despite their struggles, several players on the roster bring years of experience to the table, including multiple international appearances and even championship titles that cannot be overlooked. Francis "OXY" Hoang has been one of the standout players in recent matches, with his Neon performances making him a serious threat heading into the Play-Ins.
On the other side, we have Fluxo W7M, who recently acquired the entire LA MASIA roster and entered the scene with ambitions of making history. The team won VCL 2026 - Brazil: Stage 2, securing a direct ticket to the VCT Americas 2026 Stage 2 Play-Ins. The roster features former players from some of Brazil’s biggest organizations, including Arthur "tuyz" Vieira, a winner of VCT 2023: Americas League.
While Fluxo W7M may be entering the matchup in good form, the favoritism leans toward Cloud9, whose experience on the big stage gives them a clear advantage.
VCT Americas 2026 Stage 2 Play-Ins
The VCT Americas 2026 Stage 2 Play-Ins stage goes from August 13 to August 23. Only four teams will advance to the Playoffs, where they will battle for a place at VALORANT Champions 2026, which is set to take place in Shanghai, China.
