VCT Champions Day 6: Acend sweeps Team Envy to qualify for quarterfinals, Vivo Keyd and Sentinels say goodbye to the tournament

The sixth day of VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021 has come to an end after Acend, X10 Esports and KRÜ Esports moved on to further stages. However, we won’t see Vivo Keyd Stars and surprisingly, Sentinels as they got eliminated.

After beating Vivo Keyd yesterday, Acend moved onto the winners' match to compete against North America’s Team Envy. Even though they looked far from their prior performances against VK, the European giants performed much better today. After a dominant Ascent win on map one, the competition moved on to Acend’s pick, Bind.

Surprisingly, Team Envy played much better on Bind but in the end, it still wasn’t enough to force one more game in the series. Acend picked up a 13-8 win to close out the series in two games. Acend has now moved onto the quarterfinals and Team Envy will face X10 Crit in a losers' match for another chance in the tournament.

The Thai side of the competition made a solid start to the series. Vivo Keyd looked strong during their game with Acend the other day but they were far from showing today. Olavo "heat" Marcelo tried his best to keep his team in the game but he was the only player on VK who had a positive K/D. As a result, X10 Crit secured a dominant win in the first game of the series.

The second map started with X10 Crit’s dominance. Vivo Keyd looked lost in the first rounds of competition against their Taiwanese opponents, moreover, X10 kept the dominant lead until the end. Itthirit "Foxz" Ngamsaard put on a show with Skye in his hands to close out the map in favor of X10 Crit after 17 rounds.

Sentinels grabbed a one-sided win on Fracture, which was picked by KRÜ Esports. Juan Pablo "NagZet" Lopez Miranda had a disastrous game with only 4 kills and a 0.19 rating on Jett. On the other hand, ShahZam’s Breach guaranteed the win for Sentinels with a 1.53 rating. Sentinels won the opening map with a score of 13-7 and made a strong start to the series.

Even though KRÜ won the opening round, Sentinels made a huge comeback with TenZ’s leadership to get an important eco round to even the game. KRÜ sat behind the wheel and reached double digits in a short amount of time but Sentinels fought back again. ShahZam played his heart out to carry his team on his shoulders until the end. However, KRÜ Esports learned from their mistakes to strengthen site pushes and won the game in the end.

The last map was intense for both sides as it was a do-or-die situation. Sentinels concentrated on getting the mid control on Split but KRÜ’s defense was not that bad. Michael "dapr" Gulino had a huge performance on the last map but Roberto "Mazino" Rivas had an answer for most of his moves. KRÜ closed out the game with a score of 13-11 and made the biggest surprise of the tournament by eliminating Sentinels.
