The 2022 season of VALORANT began a while ago but EMEA's main event is at the door now with great competition waiting for us. Here is everything you need to know about VCT 2022 - EMEA - Stage 1 - Challengers - Main Event.

    Group Stage:

This year, we will have a “long-term league” formed by the best teams in the EMEA region. These 12 teams have been drawn into two different groups and they will battle against each other starting from February 11 until March 13.The first three teams in both groups will proceed to the playoffs. On the other hand, the bottom teams in each group will be relegated to the VCT 2022 - EMEA Promotion Tournament.

    Playoffs:

The leaders of each group will start their playoff run from the upper bracket semi finals and the other three will battle in the upper bracket quarter finals stage. Teams that win their opening games of the playoff bracket will move onto the semi finals. Whereas, losing sides will have another chance in the lower bracket.

    Group A

    • BIG
    • FunPlus Phoenix
    • M3 Champions
    • OG LDN Utd
    • Natus Vincere
    • Team Liquid

    Group B

    • Acend
    • BBL Esports
    • Fnatic
    • G2 Esports
    • Guild Esports
    • Papara SuperMassive

    Teams to watch:

Firstly, the latest World Champions, Acend, will be competing against their regional opponents during the tournament. Starting with the Turkish giants, SuperMassive Blaze, Mehmet Yağız "cNed" İpek and his friends will compete against Gambit Esports, G2 Esports, Fnatic, and many more. Speaking of Gambit, they are the second-seeded team in the European region, considering their current roster and previous achievements. The last time we saw these teams was at the VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021, where Acend won the series with a score of 3-2 to win the biggest trophy of the year.

Group B looks more competitive on paper with teams like Acend, G2 Esports, Fnatic, Guild Esports combined with the Turkish underdogs, BBL Esports and SuperMassive Blaze. We may see big upsets in Group A, but Group B matches might be on a different level.
