VCT Pacific 2026 Stage 1 playoffs preview and predictions: Who will claim the Pacific crown
The wait is almost over. With less than 24 hours separating us from the VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Pacific Stage 1 playoffs, the bracket is locked in, and the final eight teams are ready to battle it out for regional supremacy. Not only is a Pacific championship on the line, but the top three finishers will earn a coveted berth at Masters London. Here's everything you need to know before the action kicks off.
Format and Bracket Breakdown
The playoffs run from May 7 through May 17 in a double-elimination format. Most matches are Bo3, but the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final are elevated to Bo5, giving those climactic clashes the weight they deserve.
Group leaders Paper Rex and T1 have earned direct byes into the upper bracket semifinals, rewarded for topping their respective groups during the regular season. Joining the upper bracket quarterfinals are Rex Regum Qeon, Global Esports, KIWOOM DRX, and FULL SENSE—with Global Esports making their VCT Pacific playoff debut since franchising began in 2023, a milestone worth celebrating for the organization.
Down in the lower bracket, DetonatioN FocusMe and reigning Masters Santiago champions Nongshim RedForce begin their campaign under immediate pressure. With the sword of Damocles hanging over them from day one, a single slip could end their tournament run. For Nongshim especially, that's a stark contrast to the glory of Santiago just weeks ago.
To cap off the tournament, VCT Pacific heads to Ho Chi Minh City from May 15–17 for the Stage 1 Finals roadshow, turning the Grand Final weekend into a celebration of Vietnam's vibrant city, culture, and passionate local gaming community. And before the Grand Final on Sunday, May 17, fans can look forward to an influencer showmatch—a 2v2 Skirmish that will put raw aim to the ultimate test. Keep an eye on VCT Pacific's social channels for the participant lineup.
Teams to Watch
Paper Rex
Paper Rex need no introduction when it comes to Pacific playoffs. The Singaporean outfit, dubbed the Princes of the Pacific, are chasing yet another regional title, and they arrive with momentum on their side. Their group stage showing was a significant improvement over what we saw at Masters Santiago, and the upper bracket bye only amplifies their advantage. PRX are built for big stages, and this feels like another opportunity for them to remind everyone why they remain the benchmark in the region.
T1
T1 are equally positioned to make a deep run. The uber-successful Korean organization claimed a Masters trophy back in 2025, but the months that followed were turbulent, marked by roster instability and inconsistent results. However, the changes appear to have paid dividends. T1 stormed through their group with a perfect 5-0 record. That form, combined with their upper bracket bye, makes them one of the most dangerous teams heading into the semifinals.
KRX
KRX enter the playoffs looking to reassert their claim as Korea's strongest team. They showed flashes of brilliance during Kickoff, but their Masters Santiago campaign left some doubts. Stage 1 appears to have reignited something in the squad, and their upper bracket quarterfinal against FULL SENSE should be a revealing test of how far they've truly come.
Global Esports
Perhaps the most intriguing storyline of these playoffs belongs to Global Esports. The Indian outfit is making their first Pacific playoff appearance since franchising, and this is arguably the strongest GE roster the community has ever seen. Under head coach frosT, whose reputation for maximizing player potential is well-established, Global Esports could punch well above their seeding. A run to London feels genuinely plausible.
Finally, a special mention must go to Nongshim RedForce. The reigning Masters champions arrived at Stage 1 looking like a team still absorbing the recent meta shifts that hit them harder than most. But their last few matches showed signs of reinvention and adaptability. If Nongshim can build momentum through the lower bracket, a top-four finish isn't out of reach.
Final Predictions
These playoffs have the ingredients for one of the most competitive Pacific tournaments in recent memory, with first-timers, veterans, and a reigning Masters champion all sharing the same bracket. There will be upsets, there will be standout performances, and Ho Chi Minh City is going to be an electric backdrop for it all.
Our predicted top three headed to Masters London: Paper Rex, T1, and Global Esports.
But as always, take that with a grain of salt. That's what makes playoffs worth watching.
