Zero maps won: Two VCT China teams exit Masters Santiago in one night
Day 4 of VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Masters Santiago 2026 will be remembered as a day of heartbreak and frustration for the VCT China region. In a devastating sequence of events, two of the region's three representatives—EDward Gaming and XLG Esports—were sent packing, both suffering crushing 2-0 defeats at the hands of T1 and G2 Esports, respectively.
The consecutive eliminations paint a grim picture for VCT CN, leaving fans questioning the region's current standing on the international stage.
T1 Dismantles EDward Gaming
The night of disappointment began with EDward Gaming facing off against the Korean powerhouse, T1. Any hopes of a competitive series were quickly dashed on Bind, T1's map pick. The Korean squad came out swinging, executing a near-flawless first half. EDG struggled to find any footing, managing to scrape together only a single round before the half ended at a dominant 11-1. The second half offered no reprieve, with T1 swiftly closing out the map 13-1 immediately after the break.
Moving to Haven, EDG's map pick, there was some expectation of a bounce-back. However, T1's momentum was undeniable. Despite Haven's reputation for being challenging on the defensive side, T1 established a strong start. EDG showed signs of life, putting up more resistance and stringing together a few rounds, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. T1 held their ground, closing out the map 13-10 and securing their survival in Chile while ending EDG's run at Masters Santiago.
G2 Esports Overwhelms XLG Esports
The second match of the night followed a similar narrative, albeit slightly more competitive. XLG Esports took on G2 Esports, starting on their map pick of Abyss. XLG came out strong, looking to set the pace, but G2's resilience quickly showed. The North American squad weathered the early storm, finding their rhythm and salvaging a 6-6 tie by halftime. Switching to defense, G2 shifted into high gear, ultimately overpowering XLG to take the map 13-8.
If Abyss was a fight, Map 2 on Haven was a rout. XLG again found early success, winning the pistol and the second round, but that was where their momentum stopped. G2 unleashed unrelenting pressure, spearheaded by an incredible individual performance from Alexander "jawgemo" Mor. XLG was completely stifled, managing only three rounds in total as G2 comfortably closed the map 13-3.
The Lone Hope: All Gamers
The combined performances of EDG and XLG have left a sour taste for VCT CN fans. Having two-thirds of the region's representation eliminated on the same day is a significant blow, made even more embarrassing by the fact that neither team managed to win a single map throughout their entire Masters Santiago campaign.
Now, the weight of an entire region falls squarely on the shoulders of All Gamers. As the sole remaining representative for VCT China, they must carry the burden of proving that the region is not merely a shadow of its former self but a competitive force still capable of challenging for international trophies. The pressure is immense, and the eyes of the VALORANT world will be watching to see if All Gamers can salvage China's pride in Santiago.
