3v3 and faster VALORANT game modes are in development team's plans
VALORANT launched originally with only two modes, unrated and ranked. Now, players get to enjoy Spike Rush, Deathmatch, and most recently, Escalation. It seems like Riot Games have a number of interesting ideas under consideration as future additions, based on the development team’s answers in their latest Reddit AMA.
One of the more interesting answers was given by developer Jared “Darkhorse4Life” Berbach, who revealed Riot Games are considering future plans to offer new modes with different team sizes and game lengths. The latter is relatively offered through Spike Rush but it would be interesting to see if it is possible to implement under normal game circumstances.
“This is definitely something we've considered and will continue to consider. I think there's definitely a desire for a shorter form of the standard game mode. Nothing concrete to announce here as of yet, but stay tuned!,” answered Jared.
The regular formula for tactical shooters is 5v5, but there is no limit for creativity and experimentation if the studio is willing to implement it. Well, turns out Riot Games aren’t as boring as everyone else, and indeed looking towards 3v3 and even 7v7 modes. However, there are technical and technological limitations they have to figure out first.
“We've prototyped modes like this. Nothing concrete to announce today, but we're super open to making 3v3 modes in the future. Like you said, these generally work well on smaller map spaces. Stay tuned!,” revealed Jared.
