Team Heretics announced in an official Twitter post Aleksander "zeek" Zygmunt will be replaced by Brandon "weber" Weber. This announcement comes as a shocker to the fans before their match against Giants Gaming on May 5, 2023.

zeek initially joined Team Heretics as an IGL, but that role was later passed on to Ričardas 'Boo' Lukaševičius. All things considered, zeek was performing pretty well in VCT 2023 - EMEA League and was arguably one of the best players on the team. The reason for substituting zeek given in the official announcement post is due to ‘Personality Issues.’ Although there is no statement from zeek yet, he replied to a quote retweet by Krystian Terpiński, Lead Manager of Challengers East: Surge & VALORANT EAST: UNITED, with a popular gif, “I prefer not to speak, If I speak I’m in big trouble.”

Substitute troubles in the VCT EMEA League

This hints that there were some issues in the team which led to this situation, Team Heretics are currently in the bottom of the table with only one win and five losses in VCT EMEA, and since the transfer window closed, Team Heretics had to sub in their Assistant Coach, Weber. This is not the first time we will see an Assistant Coach filling in for a player; Karmine Corp faced a similar situation when Alexis "Newzera"Humbert decided to leave the team mid-season, and coach Ahmed "ZE1SH" El Sheikh had to step in.

This situation is quite tricky, and with no transfer window before the end of VCT Champions 2023, it is problematic for the teams to perform to their full potential. Many fans have been vocal on Twitter about opening a short transfer window before the LCQ Qualifiers, allowing teams to have roster changes if they desire. This also raises questions among the teams, why didn’t they sign a proper player as a sixth? Recently Team Liquid also announced their Content Creator Nico "Harmii"Harms will be subbing in their match against NAVI on May 5, 2023.
