Despite falling 2-0 behind against Shopify Rebellion Female, G2 Gozen managed to win three maps in a row to lift the VCT GC 2022 - Championship trophy. G2 took home a prize of $180.000 as well as the trophy. G2 had lost the EMEA Grand Final this year but the organization made up for it by becoming the world champion.

Pearl

The EMEA representative picked Pearl to start things off in Berlin, Germany. G2 made a strong start on the attacking side but lost too many rounds even though they had the upper hand. Shopify Rebellion Female had a better attacking performance in the second half and won the first map after 22 rounds, 13-9. Kayla "Flowerful" Horton had a blast-out Chamber performance, holding a 1.64 rating while grabbing 28 kills. Diana "sonder" Zhang on the other hand picked up 5 first bloods to help his team speed up the game and have the advantage.

Bind

Shopify Rebellion picked Bind as the second map of the series. The first half was very close but G2 had a small advantage by winning seven rounds in total. However, the EMEA team failed to execute their attacking strategies in the second half and Shopify Rebellion won the last six rounds to conclude the map. Benita "bENITA" Novshadian’s 21-kill Brimstone performance came in handy for the team as they did not make a mistake in their own map pick. Now they only had one more win to complete the sweep and lift the trophy of the VCT 2022 Game Changers Championship.

Ascent

G2 Esports had one more shot to turn things around and it was their time to shine for the first time in the series. The EMEA team literally demolished Shopify Rebellion Female on Ascent. The North American team could only pick up three rounds throughout the map while G2 dominated the competition. The Danish star, Michaela "mimi" Lintrup stepped up for G2 with a 2.0 rating and 3.67 K/D on KAY/O. Petra "Petra" Stoker followed mimi with a 1.64 rating and 19 kills and G2 Esports used their initiators to demolish Shopify Rebellion.

Icebox

Shopify Rebellion Female picked Icebox, once again to conclude the series. Things did not go as planned for the NA team. G2 Gozen once again demolished their opponents, this time even harder. They only lost two rounds in the first half and did not lose any other, finishing the game with a score of 13-2. Maryam "Mary" Maher’s Chamber worked for the team but Julia "juliano" Kiran’s 6 first bloods were very important for G2.

Breeze

Lastly, it was Breeze to decide this year’s world champion. G2 Gozen had a great performance on defense, in the first half and they won nine rounds while losing only three. Shopify Rebellion failed to use their attacking agents and eventually gave a huge advantage to G2. The EMEA team won four more rounds in the second half and closed out the series after a 13-5 win on Breeze. G2 completed the reverse sweep and won the championship.

G2 Gozen are your VCT 2022 Game Changers Championship winners. Congratulations to the team and you can find more information about the tournament on the events page and more information about the match is on the match page.
