Gen.G Esports revealed their original VALORANT roster back in May 2020, and were one of the first major organizations to enter the tactical shooter’s competitive esports scene. The squad witnessed a small player change with Shawn "Shawn" O'Riley replacing Loic "effys" Sauvageau in late October. Following their failure to qualify to the First Strike North America Regional Final, Gen.G Esports decided a roster shuffle is needed, and the decision fell on Keven "PLAYER1" Champagne.

PLAYER1 is a former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professional player who made the switch to VALORANT like many others. During his career, he managed to win the DreamHack Montreal 2016 BYOC. He had a number of 5th-8th finishes in all of the ESEA Season 26: Premier Division North America, ESEA Season 21: Main Division North America, and Fragadelphia 11.

Since his transition to VALORANT and during his tenure with Gen.G Esports, the Canadian managed to come out victorious in Pittsburgh Knights - Invitational, the Pulse Invitational, and the Pittsburgh Knights Before Christmas. Not only that but he placed 2nd in the CLG BLITZ CUP #2, the EsportsDoug x eUnited Charity Clash, and the Knights Invitational Gauntlet Series. On their route to the First Strike North America Regional Finals, they qualified for both the First Strike North America - UMG Closed Qualifier and the First Strike North America - NSG Tournament - Closed Qualifier but failed to reach the placements needed to qualify for the main event.

PLAYER1 so far has averaged 200 ACS across all of his competitive matches, with 125.6 ADR in 3378 rounds played. He managed to clutch the round for his team 31 times, while contributing 0.69 KPR and 1.04 K/D. He has played Cypher and Brimstone equally, recording 65 matches on each, with Omen considered his third most played agent.

The remaining Gen.G Esports VALORANT players are: Canada Anthony "gMd" Guimond Canada Danny "huynh" Huynh Canada Michael "MkaeL" De Luca United States Shawn "Shawn" O'Riley
