VALORANT’s esports scene is growing at a tremendous pace around the world, thanks to Riot Games’ Ignition Series tournaments around the world. One of the most successful events was held in Japan, the RAGE VALORANT JAPAN INVITATIONAL, which saw Absolute JUPITER Absolute JUPITERKouji "Laz" UshidaOshiro "Reita" RyuMaruoka "crow" TomoakiRyo "barce" TakebayashiShogo "takej" Takemori take home the ¥500,000 prize. This time around we are in for a treat as the RAGE VALORANT JAPAN Tournament boasts ten times the prize pool of the previous competition, with a ¥5,000,000 JPY prize pool, which equates to a little over $46,000 USD or €41,400 EUR.
The RAGE VALORANT JAPAN Tournament will follow the same format, with single elimination best-of-1 matches up until the final. The latter will put the finalists in a best-of-3 series to crown the winner. There is space for 128 teams to compete for the coveted title, with the event’s matches taking place on August 1st, 2020 and August 2nd, 2020. Naturally, RAGE are known for organizing offline LAN tournaments, but due to the ongoing pandemic circumstances, the RAGE VALORANT JAPAN Tournament participants will play online.
Stay tuned on THESPIKE.GG for more information and coverage of the event. Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below on the booming Japanese VALORANT scene and if they can ever compete internationally for worldwide recognition.
