Twitch and Riot Announce 200,000$ Launch Day Tournament
To celebrate the release of VALORANT, Riot Games announced that a 200,000$ tournament will be held on launch day, June 2nd, the biggest VALORANT tournament to date.
The tournament is taking place for North America, Europe, Brazil, Korea, Japan, and LATAM. As part of Twitch’s Summer Games Fest event, it will be similar to a Twitch Rivals tournament, and feature mostly streamers and content creators. This has struck a poor chord with the community, with many vocal members preferring an actual competitive tournament to a streamer showdown. On the other side, there are few better ways to promote a game than to have the biggest influencers in the community play it.
