Riot Games have shared more information about VALORANT Masters 2023 in Tokyo, Japan. 12 teams will represent their regions in Tokyo, with three teams from Americas, three from EMEA, three coming in from Pacific, two China, and an extra one for whichever region's team wins the VCT 2023 LOCK//IN trophy. Apart from the slot distribution, it was also announced that the tournament would take place between June 11-25.

Two slots for China at Masters 2023 Tokyo

On December 24, 2022, Riot Games announced that Tokyo would host the second international event in the 2023 circuit. In today’s news, Riot explained how the slot distribution would be in Japan, and surprisingly, China has been given two slots. In contrast, other major regions like Americas, EMEA, and Pacific have three slots. Chinese teams made their international debut last year at VALORANT Champions 2022 with EDward Gaming, and two teams from the region attended the ongoing VCT LOCK//IN tournament.

“The road to Masters will be long and difficult. After LOCK//IN teams will head to compete within the three International Leagues: AMERICAS, PACIFIC, and EMEA. Two leagues will qualify 3 teams into Masters Tokyo, while the league whose team wins LOCK//IN will earn an additional slot for the event and will send 4 teams," said in the announcement.

Currently, players are busy competing in the VCT LOCK//IN tournament, and Riot put a valuable prize aside from the money. The tournament’s winner will grant their region an additional slot at Masters 2023 Tokyo, which will occur between June 11-25. The first two semi-finalists of the tournament are set, and the second phase began yesterday. Masters is the second international event of the year, and more information about the rest of the season will be given in the upcoming months.
