There is no denying VALORANT is an extremely enjoyable game to play, but since the release of its ranked system, the community has been very vocal on the changes they want made to the mode. There is a lot to be desired, and Riot Games’ latest development update showed the studio’s commitment to continuously produce content, with episodes, acts, agents, and much more coming to VALORANT. Not only that, Riot Games’ Global VALORANT Esports Strategy Lead, Kasra Jafroodi, shared exclusively with THESPIKE.GG some of the company’s future Ignition Series plans.

During a recent stream from Ryan “Morello” Scott, the Lead Character Designer on VALORANT, he confessed to the game’s community that the person behind the tactical shooter’s ranking system is no longer with the company. He continued to acknowledge the players’ complaints regarding the VALORANT ranked experience, but emphasized their inability to take decisions before the vacant role at the company is filled. This hinders a lot of the decision making process and freedom the VALORANT team has on changing anything related to the game’s ranked system.

The news of the departure wasn’t made public by the company, but they are definitely on the lookout to fill the position. However, a Riot Games’ VALORANT designer, alias ProgRocktopus, replied in the Reddit thread with a clearer explanation on the situation. Apparently, the person mentioned to have left the company is the Lead Designer, and the process ongoing right now in the studio is finding out who will permanently fill in the position and what needs to be done in the meantime.

“This is not correct, and some of the comments below are more accurate. The lead designer behind the current ranked system has left, but there are plenty of people still on the team who understand it both technically and from a design standpoint.

The feature has a temporary design owner, and we're actively sorting out 1) who will take over the design long term and 2) what changes need to happen next. This has been made out to be more dire than it is,” clarified a VALORANT designer.

Do you think this will affect VALORANT’s ranked mode longevity if a major problem persists? What do you think of the current ranking system present in the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below!
