VRL - Turkey: Birlik - Stage 1 Recap

The Turkish leg of the VALORANT Regional leagues circuit, VRL - Turkey: Birlik - Stage 1 - Main Event is over now as Surreal Esports topped Fire Flux Esports in the Grand Final. The Turkish team will try to join the bigger league in VCT 2022 - EMEA Promotion Tournament.

Quarter Finals

According to the tournament format, the first two seeded teams got a bye and waited for their opponents in the Semi Finals. However, four other teams had to overcome each other to face the leaders of the regular season.

Galatasaray Espor vs Thunderbolts Gaming

The first matchup was between Galatasaray Esports and Thunderbolts Gaming. Galatasaray managed to sweat TBG on Bind but it still wasn’t enough to demolish them. Thunderbolts Gaming closed out the first map with a score of 13-11 with Kutluay "VPNCNP" Kutlu’s clutch Razer performance. GS’ ex-PUBG star, Ömer "Iroh" Develi, had a consistent Brimstone performance to keep his team in the game but the team clearly lacked firepower in the end. Secondly, TBG had an easier game on Breeze to complete the sweep after a 13-8 win. TBG reached the Semi Final stage to compete against Surreal Esports.

Futbolist vs Team Lixa

After acquiring Serhat "Muj" Yüksel from BBL Esports as covered, FUT Esports’s lineup looked even better but the execution was far from expected. Team Lixa managed to win the opening map of the series on Haven thanks to Haluk "bia" Demirci’s Chamber. However, Futbolist grabbed the second map, Icebox, with Konuralp "qw1" Şahin and Muj stepping up with Jett and Chamber, respectively. Lastly, Team Lixa surprised many fans with their performance on Fracture. The talented duelist, Ertuğrul "TheCady" Koç, stepped up with a 26-kill Chamber performance to carry his team to glory. Lixa met with Fire Flux Esports in the Semi Final.

Semi Finals

Surreal Esports vs Thunderbolts Gaming

In the first Semi Final matchup, Surreal Esports and Thunderbolts Gaming faced each other. After a head-to-head competition on Fracture, Surreal got the lead in the series after a 17-15 win. Sermet "Masic" Demirer’s Raze played the most important role for the winning side. Secondly, Surreal Esports reached the game-point by winning another map. This time it was their choice, Ascent. It was totally one-sided as the regular season giants got closer to the Grand Final. Thunderbolts Gaming didn’t give up that easily and won the third map, especially with Ata "AtaKaptan" Tan’s lead. The Turkish player is known for his Viper and he proved it once again with a 25-kill performance with the agent. Unfortunately, TBG failed to show any pulse in the fourth map and Surreal Esports moved onto the Grand Final after a 13-5 win on Bind. Overall, Emir "Alfajer" Ali Beder had a wonderful performance during the series, securing 86 kills in four maps and holding a 1.38 rating like a cherry on top.

Fire Flux Esports vs Team Lixa

The second Semi Final game was between Fire Flux Esports and Team Lixa. At first, Fire Flux and Futbolist looked like the strongest teams in the league but Team Lixa managed to upset one of them so it was a matchup that could have gone either way. Team Lixa picked Haven as the first map of the series but it is FF’s fourth most-played map of the season and the blues picked up a 13-9 victory to make a strong start. Secondly, Fire Flux Esports demolished the opposing side on Ascent. Emre "sterben" Demirci had a magnificent Omen performance to carry his team to the game-point by getting 22 kills and a 3.14 K/D. FF’s Ascent strategies looked unstoppable with Ibrahim "SouhcNi" Sağır’s lead. Lastly, the blues grabbed another win to close out the series in three maps, with a clean sweep. Even though Team Lixa forced it until the very end, it was Fire Flux in the end, securing the 13-11 win on Fracture. Toprak "lauress" Kaynak’s 28-kill Sage performance came in handy for the organization.

Grand Final

Surreal Esports vs Fire Flux Esports

Surreal Esports and Fire Flux Esports competed against each other to lift the VRL - Turkey: Birlik - Stage 1 - Main Event trophy and compete in VCT 2022 - EMEA Promotion Tournament. Fire Flux made a strong start to the series by winning the first map, Haven, which was picked by their opponent. Just like the semi final game against Team Lixa, Emre "sterben" Demirci had a wonderful Omen performance to get his team ahead in the competition. However, Surreal Esports bounced back after a 15-13 win on FF’s pick, Bind. In the duel of two Razes, Emir "Alfajer" Ali Beder was the winning side even though Volkan "sociablEE" Yönal had a much better individual performance. Thirdly, Surreal Esports got the lead after their win on Ascent, 13-7. For the first time in the series, Sermet "Masic" Demirer stepped up with Jett in his hands, holding a 1.54 rating and a 1.69 K/D. Fire Flux had to win the last map to force another game in the series and they picked Breeze to keep the dream alive. However, Surreal had different plans. Enes "RieNs" Ecirli had a magnificent Sova performance to reach the VCT Promotion and lift the trophy. The Turkish player confirmed 21 kills as well as holding a 1.49 rating. On the other side of the competition, Emre "JN3v1cEEEEdf" Bekçe tried everything he could with Skye in his hands but it wasn’t enough. Surreal Esports closed out the series in four games and lifted the trophy.
