Current Animal Hospital enemies are Bed Monster, Camera Monster, Ghost, Head Banger, Hiders, Mass of Eyes, Mimic, Slimebert, Stalker, and Tentacle. Each threat has a specific trigger or counter, so trying to fight everything with the same item is a quick way to lose Sanity or a patient.

All Animal Hospital enemies & where to find them

Enemies and anomalies are not the same. Most anomalies arrive disguised as patients and can be rejected at reception. Enemies appear during shifts or events and must be avoided, interrupted, treated, or defeated after they become active. Mimic is the main overlap because it begins as an admitted anomaly.

    Bed Monster

    • Location: Under beds in Rooms 1–5 and Room 7.
    Bed Monster
    Bed Monster

The Bed Monster marks its reach with a red zone. If a player enters it, the creature pulls them under the bed, removes 10 Sanity initially, and continues draining Sanity while they struggle. It can also grab patients and Hiders.

Keep patients and teammates outside the red area. Maple Syrup, an Organ, or a Transplant can make the Bed Monster disappear. Do not approach the bed with an essential item unless you already know the monster is inactive.

    Camera Monster

    • Location: Broken hospital CCTV feeds.
    Camera Monster
    Camera Monster

The Camera Monster appears only through the hospital security system, not through a Deployable Camera. Its face moves closer while you keep watching. Staying on the feed until the sequence completes triggers a jump scare and costs 20 Sanity.

Leave the camera view as soon as the figure begins approaching. Repairing broken cameras removes the condition that allows it to appear. Assigning one teammate to camera duty makes this easier because they can call out the broken feed without exposing everyone.

    Ghost

    • Location: Anywhere in the hospital after a patient dies.
    Ghost
    Ghost

A Ghost can become invisible, move through the hospital, manipulate doors, and drain 2 Sanity per second when its Ghostly Presence is close. White particles, unusual door movement, and audio cues can reveal its position.

Preventing patient deaths is the best counter because it stops the spawn. Once a Ghost exists, reveal it with the Fire Extinguisher if necessary, then use a Taser, Gun, or fire. Do not remain in the affected area while trying to locate it.

    Head Banger

    • Location: The reception check-in window, generally during early shifts.

Head Banger repeatedly strikes the reception glass and blocks normal use of the window or shutters. Asking it to leave without giving it Coffee causes a jump scare worth 20 Sanity.

Giving it Coffee is the safest immediate response. You can also wait for it to leave or use a Gun, but waiting keeps part of reception occupied. Save at least one Coffee when the event is possible.

    Hiders

    • Location: Walls in patient rooms and hospital wings.
    Hiders
    Hiders

Hiders flatten themselves against walls and copy the surrounding color. When a player gets close, they detach and chase. A successful hit steals the item in your hand and stuns you; if your hand is empty, it damages Sanity instead.

Listen for heavy breathing and inspect wall outlines before entering a room. A Fire Extinguisher, Taser, Gun, or fire can stop them. You can also outrun them or lure them into a Bed Monster. Switch away from valuable equipment when you hear the warning cue.

    Mass of Eyes

    • Location: Ceilings in treatment facilities and reception.
    Mass of Eyes
    Mass of Eyes

The warning is literal: do not look up. Directly viewing the Mass of Eyes causes extremely fast Sanity loss, often several points every half second. Altered lighting and the on-screen warning indicate that it has spawned.

Keep the camera angled down and leave the room without checking the ceiling. Eyedrops neutralize the gaze effect and let you look safely. This enemy punishes curiosity more than slow reactions.

    Mimic

    • Location: Reception and treatment areas after an anomaly is admitted.
    Mimic
    Mimic

The Mimic, also called the Skinwalker or Shapeshifter in some community guides, enters as an apparently normal patient. After revealing its large mouth, it attacks nearby players or patients and rapidly drains Sanity.

The best defense happens at reception: compare the patient, identification image, and CCTV feed before admission. If it transforms, use a Taser or Gun and keep it away from patients. Multiple players can fight it together, but weapons are safer. A Bed Monster can also capture a Mimic.

    Slimebert

    • Location: The hospital during the special Slime Shift.
    Slimebert
    Slimebert

Slimebert is the newest enemy on the current list. It can begin at around Shift 10 or later when the Slime Shift occurs. It enters through reception, roams the hospital, and swallows players who get too close. Being eaten applies a large initial Sanity penalty followed by continued loss.

Slimebert cannot be permanently defeated with a Taser or Gun. Track its route, stay out of its path, and survive until the shift ends. A Fire Extinguisher temporarily stuns it. Holding Cough Syrup prevents it from attacking, making the item the strongest personal counter when available.

    Stalker

    Location: Around hospital corners.

    Stalker
    Stalker

The Stalker signals its arrival with a sound and a nearby light flicker. Looking directly at it costs 10 Sanity before it retreats. It does not need to be fought.

Take corners slowly and angle the camera toward the floor when you notice the warning. Turning away immediately is the correct response. Weapons are unnecessary because avoiding eye contact prevents the attack.

    Tentacle/Tendril

    • Location: Room 8 after surgery.
    Tentacle/Tendril
    Tentacle/Tendril

Tentacle is an emergency event that can occur while a surgery patient is recovering. A purple mass grows from the patient and starts a timer. If the procedure is not completed correctly before time expires, the patient dies.

Follow the surgery sequence and remove the Tentacle before the countdown ends. Do not shoot or shock it because attacking the growth with a weapon can kill the patient. Clear Room 8 of distractions and have one player focus only on the procedure.

6 things to bring enemy encounters

    1. Fire Extinguisher: Reveals or disrupts several threats, including Ghosts and Hiders, and temporarily stuns Slimebert.
    2. Coffee: Safely removes Head Banger and restores Sanity when needed.
    3. Eyedrops: Counter the Mass of Eyes.
    4. Maple Syrup, Organ, or Transplant: Remove the Bed Monster.
    5. Cough Syrup: Prevents Slimebert from attacking the player holding it.
    6. Taser or Gun: Reliable against Ghosts, Hiders, and Mimics, but ineffective or dangerous in encounters such as Slimebert and Tentacle.

How to survive multiple enemies in Animal Hospital

Prioritize anything threatening a patient. Tentacle, Mimic, and Bed Monster can turn into a patient emergency or death, which may create a Ghost and make the shift worse.

Preserve Sanity before taking a fight. Camera Monster, Head Banger, Mass of Eyes, and Stalker can be handled without combat when you respond to their warning correctly.

Carry a general-purpose defensive tool. The Fire Extinguisher is valuable because it can reveal, interrupt, or stun several enemies without using limited firearm ammunition.

Divide responsibilities in multiplayer. One player should monitor reception and CCTV, while another handles treatment rooms and emergency events. Clear callouts such as “eyes in reception” or “bed monster in Room 3” are more useful than chasing the enemy.

What is the most dangerous Animal Hospital enemy?

The answer depends on the situation. Mass of Eyes can erase Sanity rapidly, while Mimic, Bed Monster, and Tentacle can endanger patients and indirectly cause a Ghost to spawn.

    Can every enemy be killed?

No. Some enemies are mechanic checks rather than combat targets. Avoid looking at Stalker or Mass of Eyes, leave the Camera Monster feed, complete the Tentacle procedure, and survive Slimebert until the shift ends.

Are Mimic and Shapeshifter the same enemy?

Yes. Current community documentation uses Mimic, while some guides call it Shapeshifter or Skinwalker.
