100 Thieves part ways with ec1s and BabyJ acquiring bang and jcStani on loan

100 Thieves announced that their Valorant roster will be parting ways with Adam "ec1s" Eccles and Hunter "BabyJ" Schline. Replacing them will be Sean "bang" Bezerra and Noah "jcStani" Smith who have been acquired on a loan from TSM and Kansas City Pioneers respectively.

Just over a month ago, 100 Thieves finalized their roster for VCT 2022 by introducing ec1s and BabyJ as their new additions who were brought on as replacements of Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella and Johann "seven" Hernandez.

Although both of ec1s’ former teams, Team Liquid and Ninjas in Pyjamas, failed to make it out of all but one Challengers Open Qualifiers, he had a decent form on arrival with a 1.20 rating and 219 ACS over the last three months. In contrast, BabyJ joined the team after a brief period with FaZe Clan where he helped the roster in VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - North America - Challengers Playoffs, as well as the 7th-8th place finish at VCT 2021 - North America Last Chance Qualifier.

bang has been an inactive member of the TSM Valorant roster since early September 2021 as their first step to rebuilding their entire roster. Being signed in the midst of the year, he was only able to demonstrate his abilities for the team in Stage 3 of VCT where the team was able to win VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - North America - Challengers 2 but placed 7th-8th in the following tournament: VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - North America - Challengers Playoffs. Ever since being benched from the TSM roster, he has been spotted trialing for SoaR, Complexity, and most notably Built By Gamers across various events including the recently concluded NSG 2022 Winter Championship - Finals where the team finished 13th-16th.

On the other hand, Noah "jcStani" Smith was acquired directly from Kansas City Pioneers current roster. He has been competing for the team since November 2020 and has contributed to their recent performances including 5th-8th place at Knights Arena VALORAMPAGE - Main Event and also NSG 2022 Winter Championship - Finals.

This roster change by 100 Thieves has to be among the most sudden and surprising roster in the history of Valorant esports, especially since these players were competing for the team in VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 1 - Main Event less than 24 hours ago where they lost against The Guard with a 2-1 final score. However, the 100 Thieves demonstrated poor performance on Ascent, the decider map by losing 13 consecutive rounds to The Guard with negligible resistance in either of the rounds.
