Aspas says he is "ready" for the Brazilian VALORANT national team
The question every Brazilian VALORANT fan — and a few international fans too — is asking himself: will Erick "aspas" Santos be a part of the Brazilian national team at the Esports World Cup 2026? In an exclusive interview with THESPIKE Brazil, the MIBR superstar player revealed his desire to represent his country at the coming "World Cup".
“I’m confident [for the VALORANT World Cup]. It would be an incredible experience to represent my country. I’m ready and very confident as well. It would be a lot of fun to play what we can call a World Cup, representing Brazil."
From an individual standpoint, aspas may not have reached the level shown at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Valorant Champions yet this year. And yet, he remains a standout performer for MIBR, specially after becoming the first player to reach 3000 kills in the VCT. When asked about this, aspas referred to the record as proof that he is "on the right path."
“When the match ended [against NRG], my wife told me [about the record]. First she congratulated me. She told me all happy, and I was very happy too. It was really cool and, for me, it shows that I've been putting in the work. There’s still a lot of work ahead: I want to win more titles, work harder, and improve more. So for me, it shows that I’m on the right path."
Now, Brazil and coach Ian "shaW" Jardim, who has been chosen to lead the team, will have until April 30 to decide whether aspas will be among the chosen players that will make up the squad. Before that, the player has one more match against Cloud9, set to take place on Saturday, April 26, during the third week of VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Stage 1.
