Surprising news continue to come from the side of Cloud9. Recently, the organization announced the departure of the best player of 2022, Jacob “yay” Whiteaker. Today, the organization has parted ways with Anthony "vanity" Malaspina. C9 are now missing two players on their active roster and need to fill it before the VCT 2023 Americas League kicks off.

Cloud9 formed one of the strongest rosters on paper after getting accepted to the new franchised system introduced by Riot Games for 2023. yay’s arrival was considered one of the biggest off-season moves and the organization kept its core to dominate the competition. They had a decent run at Red Home Ground Manchester and reached the grand final. The roster looked promising but things took a turn for the worse as time had passed.

After the disappointing performance at VCT 2023 LOCK//IN, C9 parted ways with yay and rumors started to spread as vanity would also leave the organization. Today, C9 made it official on Twitter that they won’t continue with the American player.
