Coming to Copenhagen undefeated, DRX VS

The only South Korean team at Copenhagen, DRX are ready to represent their region on the international stage. Here is a summary of their undefeated run throughout VCT 2022 - Korea - Stage 2 - Main Event!

Group Stage

There are many strong teams in the South Korean regional tournament but DRX VS are surely the favorite of all. The organization proved it by finishing the Group Stage without taking a single loss. They won seven games and did not even lose a single map. Starting with Dplus as they took them down after 1 13-6 win on Bind and 13-6 on Ascent. Secondly, On Sla2ers were the victims despite having one of the most competitive rosters in the league with the former VS member, Lee "k1Ng" Seung-won. The dominance continued with back-to-back wins against World Game Star and Tartarus . VCT 2022 - Korea - Stage 2 - Main Event’s biggest surprise was surely Maru Gaming's performance but even they could not cope with DRX. Chungnam JUEGO Esports got very close to ending DRX’s winning streak but the result did not change. DRX won the series after a very close competition, 13-11 on Split and 17-15 on Ascent. Kim "MaKo" Myeong-kwan stepped up in the series and held a 1.31 rating to keep their streak alive. Lastly, DRX VS took another easy win, this time against Spear Gaming, and finished the Group Stage with 7 series wins and 14 map wins.

Playoffs

After being so dominant throughout the Group Stage, the odds of DRX VS winning the title got even higher. They started the VCT 2022 - Korea - Stage 2 - Main Event playoffs from the Upper Bracket Semi Final. World Game Star came to take the challenge once again after taking down Maru Gaming in the Upper Bracket Quarter Finals. As expected, the result did not change as DRX secured another sweep to reach the Upper Bracket Final, 13-7 on Bind and 13-3 on Haven. Before reaching the Grand Finals, DRX had to face Dplus, and guess what? Another sweep. DRX did their best and won 8 rounds on Fracture and 10 on Split as it counted successful considering the dominance. Maru Gaming completed their miracle run by reaching the Grand Finals coming from the Lower Bracket but their run ended after getting swept by DRX, 13-4 on Split, 13-9 on Haven, and 13-3 on Ascent.

Preferred Maps

During the regional tournament, Ascent looked like DRX’s comfort zone as they picked the map many times. However, they have also picked Haven, and Split especially during the playoffs. We haven’t really seen them against a very strong team so they may change their strategies before VCT 2022 - Stage 2 - Masters Copenhagen.

Player to watch

Looking at the team’s performance, there are lots of different players stepping up but BuZz has surely proven himself, especially with Chamber in his hands. The South Korean player held a 1.32 rating with the agent in 16 games with a solid 1.65 K/D. He also picked Killjoy 5 times.
