New Cypher’s Cage bug gives VALORANT players an unintended advantage
A new Cypher bug has been reported to Riot Games after affecting the VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Pacific Stage 2 match between Gen.G and Global Esports.
Fans have since tested the issue and found that Cypher’s Cyber Cage can prevent abilities from affecting players inside it, potentially giving them an advantage during a match. Riot Games has yet to address the issue.
What is happening to Cypher's Cyber Cage?
Global Esports were just one map away from winning the series when Gen.G forced Sunset into overtime. During the round, Kim "t3xture" Na-ra was holding the A Main entrance with an Operator when Savva "Kr1stal" Fedorov threw a Cypher Cage around him. What Global Esports didn’t know was that the cage was affected by an active bug, making t3xture immune to abilities while inside it.
When Fade’s Haunt and Raze’s Boom Bot passed through the cage, neither ability detected t3xture, misleading Global Esports into believing that no one was holding the angle. The unexpected interaction gave Gen.G a crucial advantage, helping them secure the map and force the series to a deciding third map, where they ultimately completed the comeback and won the series.
Following the series, fans began testing how the cage interacts with other abilities, including flashes, and found similar results. Players inside the Cyber Cage appear to become immune to abilities, regardless of whether the cage was deployed by a teammate or an enemy Cypher.
This is not the first time Cypher has been affected by bugs this year. Most recently, a bug involving his Spycam allowed players to shoot while using the camera, a bug that first appeared in 2020 during the game's infancy.
Will Riot Games roll back the game?
At the time of writing, Riot Games has not provided any information about a potential rematch. Cypher has also not been disabled, suggesting that Riot Games is still evaluating the bug and determining what action to take next.
