Zellsis rejoins Sentinels for the 2027 season, with a twist
Unlike his previous tenure as a starting player, however, head coach Ewok clarified that Zellsis returns in a specialized capacity: serving as an “emergency substitute” as well as a full-time content creator.
From Cloud9 exit to Sentinels reunion
Zellsis' return comes amidst a turbulent VCT offseason reshuffle. After parting ways with Sentinels in late October 2025 following a top-16 finish at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Valorant Champions, Zellsis spent the 2026 VCT season competing for Cloud9.
However, Cloud9 endured a challenging competitive year, failed to appear for any international tournament since VCT 2023 - LOCK//IN in the franchise era, and culminated in the announcement on October 18, 2026, that Cloud9 had lost its VCT partnership spot for the 2027 season.
This shift set off a rapid domino effect across North America. Just weeks later, on November 2, 2026, Sentinels secured Cloud9’s star Duelist Francis "OXY" Hoang to fill a slot on their roster.
With Cloud9 entering open qualifiers for 2027 and OXY moving to Sentinels, Zellsis followed suit shortly thereafter to reunite with the organization where he achieved his career highlights.
Clarifying the role: Emergency backup and content engine
Despite debates over whether Zellsis would take Sentinels' fifth starting spot, the organization explicitly announced his return as an emergency substitute and content creator.
Re-signing Zellsis delivers massive brand value, roster depth, and cultural impact to Sentinels. As one of VALORANT’s most magnetic personalities, his return boosts fan engagement, merchandise sales, and media reach.
Ultimately, the Masters Madrid winner offers Sentinels an ideal balance of content creation and competitive safety for the upcoming 2027 VCT competitive season.
