On the third last day of the VCT 2025 - Pacific Kickoff, fans witnessed a thrilling South Korean derby as DRX faced off against T1 for a coveted spot at VCT 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025.

The high-stakes match stretched into a grueling Bo3 series, where DRX found themselves on the back foot after dropping the first map. However, they staged an incredible comeback, securing the reverse sweep and clinching their spot at the first international event of 2025.

This qualification marks DRX’s first appearance at a Masters event in two years. After their sub-par international showing in 2023, the team fell even further in 2024, missing both VCT 2024 - Masters Madrid and VCT 2024 - Masters Shanghai. While they did manage to qualify for VCT 2024 - Champions 2024, their campaign ended disappointingly at 5th-6th place. This led many to question if DRX had lost their status as one of the Pacific region’s strongest teams.

Roster Shakeup Sparks a Resurgence

A key factor behind DRX’s return to form has been the mid-season roster changes in 2024. The biggest move saw Kim "MaKo" Myeong-kwan take over as IGL, replacing their longtime captain Kim "stax" Gu-taek, who, in a dramatic twist, transferred to T1. Under MaKo’s leadership, DRX showed significant improvement towards the end of the year, setting the stage for a stronger 2025.

Heading into the 2025 season, DRX made further roster adjustments, bringing in No "freeing" Ha-jun and Hyun-min " HYUNMIN" Song. These changes have paid off immensely, as DRX not only secured a spot in the VCT Pacific Kickoff Grand Finals but also overtook Gen.G Esports as Korea’s top team. With their recent victory over Gen.G, DRX have once again established themselves as the team to beat in the Pacific region.

A New Chapter for DRX

With a Masters qualification finally under their belt, DRX seem to have put their struggles behind them. Their new signings are delivering, and MaKo's leadership has reinvigorated the squad. As they prepare for Masters Bangkok, all eyes are on DRX to see if they can reclaim their status as an international powerhouse.
