FunPlus Phoenix have reached the Grand Finals once again after taking down Guild Esports in the VCT 2022 - EMEA - Stage 2 - Challengers - Main Event Lower Bracket Final. FPX have already guaranteed a spot at Copenhagen and now they have a chance to lift the EMEA trophy again just like the previous stage.

    Fracture

After their successful decider-map performance against M3 Champions tomorrow, FPX picked Fracture as the first map of the series. They took down the Russian squad with a score of 13-4 yesterday, demolishing their opponents to reach the Lower Bracket Final and it is now time to repeat the success against Guild. FPX started the map with a 5-round winning streak, denying Guild’s every attack until the sixth round. Despite falling down in the sixth round, they completed another 5-round winning streak in the first half. Just like yesterday, FunPlus Phoenix were very strong on defense and closed out the first half in style, 10-2. Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks’s Chamber was very effective for them as he secured 16 kills with 2 first bloods while holding a 1.87 rating. The Latvian star also had a 100% KAST on top of all the statistics. Guild struggled to find the perfect attacks or even execute their strategies against FPX’s defensive efforts. Saif "Sayf" Jibraeel tried his best on the attacking side with 3 first bloods and a 0.86 holding but of course, it wasn’t optimal for the European team. They started the second half by winning the first two rounds. Russel "Russ" Mendes’s Viper stepped up in the pistol round and secured 3 kills to keep his team in the game and maybe complete a possible comeback. However, FPX did not waste any time and closed out the map in 17 rounds just like yesterday, 13-4. ardiis finished the game with a 20 rating and a 1.65 rating with a 100+ FBSR.

    Haven

It was time for Guild Esports’s map, Haven. As it was a BO5, it didn’t mean the end of the world for the European team but still, they had to win in order to stay in the game. Guild’s attacking half started with a one-sided effort. The European representatives won the first four rounds by eliminating all the FPX members. Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko led his team with his kill contribution on Raze. FunPlus Phoenix managed to pick up some rounds until the end of the half and stayed in the game without falling hardly behind as Guild did on Fracture. The first half ended with a score of 7-5 in favor of Guild Esports. Leo "Leo" Jannesson, Saif "Sayf" Jibraeel, and Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko had 10 kills each at the end of the half and they were the main firepower for Guild’s attacks. Pontus "Zyppan" Eek’s 12-kill Raze performance kept FPX in the game as he also held a 1.24 rating. Guild’s lead continued in the opening rounds of the second half as they won the first two rounds but after that, FPX came on top with a massive lead. The CIS representatives won seven rounds in a row and reached the 12-round point. Dmitry "SUYGETSU" Ilyushin played his heart out on Sage and he held a 1.59 rating on the attacking side. Guild reached 11 rounds but failed to force overtime as Zyppan carried his team in the 24th round, securing 3 kills with a 707 score. FPX won the map in 24 rounds, 13-11. Both SUYGETSU and Zyppan had 20 kills at the end of the game. Leo had a solid Sova performance with 26 kills and a 1.58 rating but Guild failed to tie the series in their map pick.

    Split

Lastly, it was time for another FPX map, Split. After taking down Guild on Haven, they only needed one more map to reach the Grand Finals and face Fnatic. FPX’s attacking turn started in style with a 6-round winning streak. After that, Guild showed pulse by winning three rounds in a row mainly thanks to Leo’s Fade. The Swedish player played his heart out throughout the series and he surely had the best performance on the side of Guild. FPX won two more rounds before switching sides and the first half ended in favor of them, 8-4. Zyppan and SUYGETSU were the leaders on the scoreboard for the CIS representatives again with 13 kills each. The Swedish Raze also held a 1.52 rating and dropped 5 first bloods and SUYGETSU held a 1.41 rating on their attacking turn. Leo finished the first half with a 1.65 rating and 14 kills. The second half was just a menace as FunPlus Phoenix did not lose a single round until reaching the 13-round mark. Guild Esports failed to successfully complete any attacking attempt they had. Moreover, Russel "Russ" Mendes and Jose Luis "koldamenta" Aranguren could not even secure a single kill in the last five rounds. Russ even had a negative rating, -0.15 with 0 kills, 5 deaths, and 0 assists. On FPX’s side, Andrey "Shao" Kiprsky put on a show with Astra in his hands, holding a 2.23 rating and securing 7 kills. FunPlus Phoenix won the game, 13-4, and moved on in the tournament.
