FUT s0pp on the current meta state: "Everything is about individual skill"
Efe "s0pp" Tur spoke with THESPIKE after their VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - EMEA Stage 2 win to discuss the team’s struggles to easily secure their series against PCIFIC Esports, the relationship with their head coach, the current meta, and the mounting fatigue after months of international tournaments.
Struggling to end the series against PCFIC
THESPIKE: What are your feelings about the series?
s0pp: "We are happy, even if we lost Lotus, but everyone is so happy because we got the Championship Point, so that's all."
THESPIKE: Split started well but then you kinda fell off when you switched to Defense. In the post Game 1 interview you said that you were kinda nervous as a team. How do you manage to calm down in moments like this?
s0pp: "I mean, when things go unexpected, everyone is trying to communicate better, obviously, and I think what I'm doing is trying to play with my teammates more and more.
So if I do a mistake, he can trade me, or if he tries to do something, for example, like on A, we communicate more and more, so we try to punish the A guy."
Communicating more is everything.
THESPIKE: Your coach looked kinda mad from the stream, how does he deal with you? Is he rough sometimes or is he comprehensive and calm?
s0pp: "Our coach is pretty chill, maybe he's showing his inside anger, but he never talks bad about us after the game. For example, why did you take this move, or what are you doing like this? But he's pretty chill, and he's trying his best to control us."
THESPIKE: Everyone expected a 2-0, do you think PCFIC deserved to win the second map because they played well or it was more you not being able to be consistent throughout the series?
s0pp: "I mean, PCFIC obviously played okay, but I think we weren't really focused on the Lotus game, and I think that's how it went to overtime, right? Yeah, probably that's why it went overtime."
The Current state of the game
THESPIKE: A lot of players are complaining about the poor state of the game. For example Leaf said that sentinels are bad and the game is very Attack-sided. It’s more about individual skill rather than strats. Do you like this type of meta?
s0pp: "I mean, I like the meta. I don't think I ever hated one meta, like for example duble duelist or double initiator meta. Nathan "leaf" Orf is right.
I don't think there's one good meta. For example double duelist, I don't think it's a really good meta. I think if a player is comfortable with one agent, and if your coach knows how to deal with it, how to make a proper comp for the player, and the other players as well, I think it's okay."
For me, I think everything is about individual skill.
THESPIKE: Does this type of meta help you as a team?
s0pp: "I mean, the double duelist used to help us a lot to qualify for VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Masters London 2026, but now I think we are struggling, and we are trying our best to figure it out."
THESPIKE: Karmine Corp said that they are playing with no strats, do you think this is possible because of the meta or is it a way of playing that has always been viable?
s0pp: "I think it's the best thing you can do about it, because when you have no strategy, I mean obviously you can make a pistol round, or anti-bonus, or a bonus round strategy like this, but when there's no strategy, you're pushing your players to focus on the game more, so the players are more comfortable with what they're going to do, so I think it's a really good idea."
Last months and opinion on the new map
THESPIKE: You had to play both Masters London and EWC - Esports World Cup 2026 in the last month, do you think fatigue affected you in the first matches of VCT EMEA?
s0pp: "I don't think it affected me for this stage, but for Masters London, for the last three games after the Team Vitality game, I think it affected me so much. I remember I was getting five or six hours of sleep for one game, and I was always yawning when we were going to the arena, and I couldn't drink Red Bull because it was too much for me, so for Masters London it was too much.
I mean, I prefer having more events, but like earlier I said I was too tired on Masters London. I think it's up to players, but I prefer more events, so you get more experience."
THESPIKE: What do you think about the new map Summit?
s0pp: "Yeah, I like it. I think it's the best map when it comes out."
I didn't like Abyss when it came out, but I really like Summit.
This win over PCFIC showed that even the most underrated teams can make top sides struggle, as FUT didn’t have an easy time against them. FUT now sit at 2–1 and will face BBL Esports on July 24 at 17:00 CET. After this victory, they lead EMEA in Championship Points with a tally of 12.
