G2 Esports part ways with valyn after three years

After three years with G2 Esports and four Americas titles, Jacob "valyn" Batio is leaving the organization ahead of the 2027 season. The in-game leader was part of the original roster that G2 Esports acquired from The Guard.

Valyn leaves G2 Esports

One of G2 Esports’ most recognizable VALORANT figures is parting ways with the organization after three years. As the team’s in-game leader, valyn played a key role in securing four regional titles and led the roster through its international campaigns since joining Tier 1.

Since 2024, G2 Esports has missed just one international qualification, competing in the following eight international tournaments. The team’s best result came at the VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025, where they finished as runners-up after losing the final to T1.

In 2025, G2 Esports made history by winning all three regional titles in the Americas, becoming the first team to achieve the feat in the region.

Following the farewell video, valyn reflected on his time with G2 Esports and how the experience changed his life.

I'm a little emotional looking back at all the memories. All good things come to an end, but honestly, these last three years with the guys have been amazing. It has been life-changing, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. The only thing that keeps me sad is that we couldn't actually reach the highest of the highest with each other. We worked really hard for it, but it is okay. I still think the journey was amazing. I will miss these guys a lot.

What’s next for valyn?

Valyn’s next destination has yet to be officially revealed. However, recent rumors suggest the in-game leader could be heading to a new continent, with Fnatic among the organizations reportedly in the running. In his farewell video, valyn also hinted at what’s next for him without revealing his next destination, giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect from his upcoming move.

I'm excited for you guys to see what's next for me because I think it's something that will reignite me as a player, reignite me, reignite my career. I'm really excited for this new opportunity on the horizon. For my guys at G2, I still love you, no hard feelings. Sometimes, changing is good for people; it is good for all parties. I still wish you guys the best of luck. Hopefully, I can see you at a Masters or something we can both make it to, have a little duel, very poetic, but until then, we will be cheering for each other. For all the fans, thank you guys so much. We will see you at the next opportunity, and I think you guys are going to like it.

G2 Esports is reportedly preparing for major changes ahead of the next season, although details remain unclear for now. The VALORANT offseason transfer window opens on November 2, so fans can expect plenty of roster moves in the coming weeks.
