As the Grand Finals of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Americas Kickoff came to an electrifying close, G2 Esports emerged as champions, defeating Sentinels in a grueling Best-of-5 series. The match went the full distance, with both teams pushing each other to the limit before G2 finally secured a 3-2 victory.

From start to finish, the series was a back-and-forth battle. Sentinels struck first, taking the lead, but G2 responded each time, never allowing their opponents to pull too far ahead. It all came down to the final map on Haven, where G2’s dominant defense half set the tone. Despite a late push from Sentinels, G2 held firm, closing out the map 13-10 and sealing their first Tier 1 VALORANT championship.

A Historic First for G2 Esports

For G2 Esports, this victory is more than just a tournament win—it marks their first-ever title in Tier 1 VALORANT. The team has been on a steady rise since the 2024 season, showing immense improvement. After multiple close calls in past tournaments, G2 has finally broken through and lifted their first major trophy.

However, their journey is far from over. With this triumph, G2 now turns its focus to VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025, where they aim to build on this success. Having struggled on the international stage last year, this win provides a crucial momentum boost as they seek to make a statement in 2025.

Adding to the celebrations, Trent "trent" Cairns was named the MVP of the Grand Finals, delivering a standout performance with 80 kills across five maps. His impact was instrumental in G2’s victory, consistently making game-changing plays and keeping his team in contention throughout the series.

    Looking Ahead

For Sentinels, even though they could not claim the Kickoff title two years in a row, they are still one of the best that Americas has to offer, even after their major roster changes. With them also qualifying for Masters Bangkok, Sentinels will definitely look to recover their form, and go for the Masters title for a third time.

With a championship under their belt and Bangkok on the horizon, G2’s next challenge will be maintaining their form on the global stage. But for now, they can celebrate a well-earned victory—one that cements their place as an elite team in VALORANT.
