Gen.G finalizes 2027 VALORANT roster with MaKo and Dambi
Gen.G Esports has finalized its VALORANT roster for the 2027 season. The announcement was made during a livestream hosted by star player Kim "t3xture" Na-ra, and confirmed the high-profile additions of Kim "MaKo" Myeong-kwan and Lee "Dambi" Hyuk-kyu.
With established veterans, proven international MVPs, and experienced coaching, Gen.G enters the upcoming VCT campaign with high ambitions.
Reinforcing the Firepower: Welcoming MaKo and Dambi
The headline moves of Gen.G’s offseason restructuring center on the acquisitions of MaKo and Dambi.
As announced by Gen.G Gold on social media, MaKo arrives from KIWOOM DRX as an established scene veteran recognized for his aim, sharp decision-making, and leadership. His presence is expected to provide valuable in-game direction and tactical stability.
Joining MaKo is Dambi, who enters the organization fresh off a sensational performance as the VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Masters Santiago 2026 MVP with Nongshim RedForce. Dambi’s exceptional firepower, raw talent, and competitive experience are vital assets that will elevate the squad’s overall quality.
Retaining the Championship Foundation
While the new additions bring fresh firepower, Gen.G has has also preserved the core of its championship-winning framework.
Kim "Karon" Won-tae stays with Gen.G for the 2027 season, continuing a journey that saw him transform from a golden rookie in 2024 into a formidable contender. Karon, along with t3xture, represents the core duo that famously led Gen.G to victory at VCT 2024 - Masters Shanghai, securing the first international VCT trophy for the Pacific region.
Tactical continuity is locked in as well. Gen.G confirmed that Coaches Kang "solo" Keun-chul and Kim "HSK" Hae-seong will remain with the team for 2027, maintaining a tenure that began in the 2024 season.
Integrating Xiesta and Navigating the Roster Transition
The final piece of Gen.G’s starting lineup centers on young prodigy Jung "Xiesta" Si-hwan, the Gen.G Global Academy graduate who signed a historic four-year contract.
Starting in 2027, Riot Games officially lowered the minimum age requirement to compete in international events from 18 to 17. This pivotal rule change clears the path for Xiesta to serve as Gen.G's official fifth man.
However, because Xiesta does not turn 17 until March, Gen.G must execute a short-term roster transition. The team is highly likely to play VCT Pacific 2027 Kickoff with contract reserve player Kim "Raxcal" Min-seok filling in the starting slot.
Once Xiesta turns 17 in March, Gen.G will switch RaxcaL out for Xiesta, allowing the prodigy to make his official debut for the main squad.
High Ambitions for the 2027 VCT Campaign
With a new look going into 2027, Gen.G has assembled one of the most competitive rosters in VCT Pacific. As the team prepares for the season to begin, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how quickly this lineup transforms its talent into success.
