BuZz extends contract with T1 through 2028
South Korean powerhouse T1 has officially announced that duelist Yu "BuZz" Byung-chul has extended his contract through 2028. The long-term commitment reinforces T1’s faith in BuZz’s relentless work ethic and fierce drive for victory as the organization builds its squad for VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027.
Anchor of a Sweeping Roster Overhaul
BuZz’s contract extension comes on the heels of a massive structural reset across T1’s VALORANT program ahead of the 2027 season.
Following the confirmation of T1 as an official VCT partner team, the organization executed widespread changes by parting ways with both head coaches and three players from their 2026 roster. T1 also dissolved its entire academy pipeline, opting for a clean slate across its esports system.
Amid these sweeping departures, T1 identified BuZz alongside Kim "stax" Gu-taek-who also signed a contract extension through 2028-and young duelist Ham "iZu" Woo-joo as the core foundation around which to construct their next era.
Strategic Foundation for a Global Superteam
By securing BuZz for the long term, T1 maintains the required three South Korean players to continue competing in VCT Pacific. But on the other side, they seem to be bringing a heavy international presence into the team as well.
Reports indicate that T1 is finalizing a high-profile lineup for the 2027 season. Former Sentinels superstar Tyson "TenZ" Ngo is reportedly returning to professional play with T1 alongside former Fnatic man Austin "crashies" Roberts. Additionally, former world champion and Masters Madrid winner Tanner "7Teen" Curtis is expected to join as head coach.
Securing Ambitions
With a guaranteed partnership slot in VCT Pacific for the 2027–2028 cycle, T1 aims to build back towards a level last seen at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025. If the reports are true, T1 are playing a very ambitious game, but they could end up with one of the most dangerous rosters of 2027.
