KRÜ benches Adverso a week ahead of VCT Americas: Stage Two
KRÜ Esports has officially announced the departure of Benjamín "Adverso" Poblete, just a week before VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Americas Stage 2. This move has ended Adverso's stint on KRÜ, who joined the organisation as their IGL for the 2025 season.
Despite only joining KRÜ this season, Adverso has been a prominent face in the LATAM scene. Most well known for his time on Leviatán who made their VCT debut at VCT 2022 - Stage 2 - Masters Copenhagen, Adverso clawed his way back to another Tier 1 opportunity this year, eager to prove himself on the big stage.
While Adverso's departure was KRÜ's decision, the Chilean player also recognized that he "couldn’t find his consistency within the group." This was obvious during VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Americas Stage 1, where he was consistently the lowest fragger on the team, and more recently in Tixinha & Sacy Invitational By Bonoxs, where his poor performance in the event may have contributed to the sudden change. Although IGLs tend to put up lower numbers, KRÜ's switch of IGL from Adverso to Marco Eliot "Melser" Machuca Almaro ahead of Stage 2 meant that Adverso's role on the team was more replaceable.
A move to retain KRÜ's unfailing Champions appearance?
KRÜ looked like one of the teams to beat in Stage 1, finishing top of their group. Nevertheless, the organization missed out on VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025, despite only needing one win to qualify for the event with the first seed bye they had earned.
Replacing Adverso seems like KRÜ's attempt at a solution to ensuring that they translate their strong regular season performance into a global event qualification. This is especially important when considering that KRÜ has never missed out on a Champions event ever since VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021: "the pink guys from the South" would love to keep the streak going.
While KRÜ have not announced Adverso's replacement, rumours circulating in the LATAM community point to Jesús "Dantedeu5" Larrosa. a young up-and-coming duelist player who performed well at VCT 2024 - Ascension: AMERICAS. Dante is currently on OXEN, a team affiliated with KRÜ in VCL LATAM South, making his transfer even more likely. Upgrading KRU's firepower with Dante might be the key KRÜ needs for another run to their fifth Champions event, yet with just a week before Stage 2, the team needs to hit the ground running.
