Riot Games have officially announced that this year, the competition will take us to Tokyo, Japan for Masters 2023. Last year, Masters events were hosted in Reykjavik and Copenhagen, two of the most famous Scandinavian cities, but the 2023 season will start in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and continue in Tokyo, Japan.

According to the new tournament format, the best teams of the international leagues will qualify for this year’s Masters tournament. The Pacific, EMEA, and Americas’ representatives will battle against each other in Tokyo to clinch a guaranteed spot in the Champions 2023 event. Three teams from each region will qualify for Masters Tokyo, as well as the winning team of Sao Paulo, which will be granted a spot. The tournament is expected to take place in June.

Before that, the new season will kick off in Sao Paulo, Brazil. That tournament will mean a lot for the teams as the winner will earn an additional spot for their league at the Masters Tokyo. The season will continue with regional leagues and the second international event is Masters. Last year, there were six regions, if we count South America as one, but in the new system, there are only three. More information about the event will be announced in the upcoming days.
