Riot issues statement on Florescent sexual assault allegations
After a storm of rumors and speculation, Riot Games has made an official statement on the recent allegations made against former Apeks member and Game Changers superstar Ava "florescent" Eugene.
Riot’s statement
Riot released a short statement acknowledging the situation around Florescent, stating that the Competitive Operations Team will be cooperating with any legal investigation. Additionally, the team will assess whether or not these allegations will affect Florescent’s eligibility to compete in any competition moving forward.
However, some fans were confused on why Riot didn’t name Florescent in the statement they made. In other similar statements around players and competitive rulings, Riot has always name-dropped the players involved. Although there haven’t been many instances like this, the name of the accused has always been put into the public light.
Florescent was accused of sexual assault by another former Game Changers player and retired pro Marceline "karie" Carson, who had spoken on behalf of the victim who was allegedly a close friend. According to the recent statements from Brick, the victim, Florescent had supposedly assaulted her at the beginning of the year when Brick visited her house.
New statements
On May 17, Karie levied some hefty accusations against Florescent, who had just announced her hiatus from competitive play due to “personal and family emergencies.” The following day, Karie released a second statement with words written by Brick herself. Throughout the second Google document, Brick explained how Florescent emotionally manipulated her, and her toxic behavior during their relationship and in other relationships she had with other women.
The statement also went into detail about the incident that occurred between them at Florescent’s house, where the former pro player allegedly forced herself onto the victim and coerced her into sexual activity. She was also allegedly not able to leave Florescent’s house, because the former player had changed the password on her phone so she couldn’t ascertain her whereabouts or access the Uber app.
