The VCT 2026 offseason marked an interesting turning point for three-time VCT Americas champion Jonah "JonahP" Pulice. For years, JonahP spent every single break resting and preparing to compete alongside his G2 Esports teammates. However, the offseason leading up to VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Kickoff saw JonahP without a team as, for the first time in years, he sat and watched the VCT Americas from the sidelines.

From the outside, JonahP’s breakaway from the VCT was seen as a series of unfortunate circumstances that led to his current position. For JonahP, it was “a wake up call”.

Reflections from his short break from the VCT

For the entirety of VCT Americas Kickoff 2026, JonahP sat and awaited any teams that could be in need of his mind for the game and ability to clutch in crucial moments. Through that, JonahP had moments to reflect and think about how quick things can change.

“I knew I wouldn’t always have my same teammates on my previous team, but you never know when it could be your last day,” JonahP said.

That moment of shock came weeks before the start of Kickoff. Despite not winning a single international event, public perception was set on the entire 2025 G2 Esports lineup returning in 2026. Instead, JonahP found himself in search of a new place to call home for the VCT 2026 season.

    Sentinels struggles in Kickoff

Sentinels were one of three teams to qualify for every single VCT international tournament. However, the VCT 2026 season proved to be challenging as the fan-favorites found themselves missing out on VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Masters Santiago 2026. As a result, the team sought to make changes in their team, creating an opportunity for JonahP to make his long-awaited return to the VCT Americas stage.

Sentinels began their VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Stage 1 campaign on a tough note. The team was forced to play with former NRG talent Victor "Victor" Wong due to visa complications surrounding their new duelist, Gurjiwan "Jerrwin" Gill. As a result, Sentinels found themselves down 0-1 to start their season. However, was able to field their full starting roster ahead of their series against 100 Thieves, as Sentinels quickly proved that JonahP’s addition into the team would mark a rebirth into something special.

Things are now starting to look up for the new-look Sentinels squad and JonahP. After missing out on Kickoff, JonahP is looking to make the most of this new opportunity. While he acknowledges that there will be challenges along the way, he has appreciated every single moment with his new team.

“I’m just grateful to have people, especially this coaching staff, who believe in the team and me,” JonahP said. “They give me freedom to implement stuff that Iike to do and what I think is good. They always listen to me and I think we are really meshing well together.”

Whether that comes from reviewing team VODs with the Sentinels coaching staff or even his routine ping-pong matches against teammate Gabriel "cortezia" Cortez, JonahP is embracing everything that comes with being on Sentinels. Now, he is looking to bring his winning ways over from G2 Esports to help catapult Sentinels back to the top of VCT Americas once again.

It will be interesting to see whether Sentinels can continue riding the momentum gained from their series victory over 100 Thieves. For now, they will prepare for their upcoming series against Evil Geniuses on April 26, 2026.
