Shopify Rebellion secures GC Championship Grand Final spot, KRÜ and BBL Queens head home

With VALORANT Game Changers 2023 - Championship: São Paulo Day 4 ending, we saw two teams getting eliminated from the tournament and one team heading to the grand finals after an exciting three series of best of three; here is how the day went:

Team SMG Female stomp KRÜ Blaze

The match started on Lotus, on which Team SMG is currently unbeaten, and showed the same dominance against KRÜ Blaze by securing the map with a scoreline of 13-3. Throughout the map, it felt like KRÜ Blaze could not find a proper reply to Team SMG’s aggressive playstyle.

The second map was Bind and was picked by KRÜ Blaze; although they performed compared to Lotus again, it felt like the aggressive playstyle from Team SMG Female was overwhelming for them. KRÜ Blaze did manage to win five rounds on their attacking half but unfortunately came short on their defensive half, with Team SMG Female securing the series with a score of 13-7.

Team Liquid BR sends BBL Queens back home

The first map was Ascent, where BBL Queens decided to start as Defenders, and Team Liquid dominated the first four rounds of the map. Before the fifth round, we saw a timeout from BBL Queens; we saw them winning their first round and finishing the first half with a score of Team Liquid seven and BBL Queens with five rounds. Team Liquid BR managed to win Ascent with a convincing score of 13-8.

The second map was Haven, and Team Liquid decided to Attack first. Again, we saw the first half ending with the same score line as Ascent, with Team Liquid securing seven rounds and BBL Queens with five. The attacking side from BBL Queens was more dominant than their Ascent game, and they managed to take the score to 12-9. But in round 22, Issa from Team Liquid turned the match around with an insane clutch against Eva from BBL Queens; we saw Team Liquid tying up the score and taking the game to overtime, where they finally managed to secure the series with a final score of 15-13.

Shopify Rebellion sends G2 Gozen to Lower Brackets

This match-up was the highlight of the day as both the teams have been playing exceptionally well and are considered strong contenders to win the championship. The first map was Breeze; this was also the first time we saw Breeze being picked in this tournament. Shopify Rebellion started as attackers and managed only to get four rounds from their attacking side. Petra played a crucial role for G2 Gozen to take first bloods with her exceptional oping, which made attack harder for Shopify. G2 Gozen managed to attack almost flawlessly on their attacking side, only losing two rounds and securing the map with a score of 13-6.

The second map on the best of three series was Ascent and Shopify Rebellion. They flipped their gameplay and were dominant on their map pick by securing their attacking half with a scoreline of 10-2. G2 Gozen felt a bit shaky on the second map and was unable to secure the series, ending with the map with a score of 13-3.

The last and final map of the day was Sunset, and this game felt a lot closer compared to the other two, where both teams had their up and downs throughout the game, but it felt like G2 Gozen came short compared to Shopify Rebellion. There were some instances where we saw players from Gozen missing shots, which was one of the factors in their losing the series.

By securing the win against G2 Gozen, Shopify Rebellion has secured their spot for the Grand Final, and G2 Gozen will now face the winners between Team SMG Female and Team Liquid BR in the Lower Bracket Finals.
