Team Heretics part ways with Koshmaras after five months

Team Heretics has officially bid farewell to Martynas "Koshmaras" Namikas. The Lithuanian player joined the team back in April of 2026, and after only five months on the squad, Koshmaras is now leaving the organization.

Saved the team from doom

Koshmaras signed with Heretics in the middle of VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - EMEA Stage 1. Previously, the team had been open about communication issues among the players, as Turkish player Berkcan "ComeBack" Şentürk didn’t speak much English.

After losing their opening Group Stage match against Natus Vincere, Heretics decided to part ways with ComeBack and brought in Koshmaras mid-season as a last-ditch effort. Joining Heretics marked Koshmaras’ debut on the VCT stage, having previously played exclusively in Tier 2 and Tier 3.

With Koshmaras on the roster, things started looking up after just a few games. The team made it out of the Group Stage with a positive record, with Koshmaras finding his groove on Neon. Although they lost their opening playoff match, Heretics pulled off an insane lower-bracket run to reach the Grand Final.

In the end, Team Heretics managed to lift the EMEA trophy and became regional champions, largely thanks to Koshmaras’ impeccable plays on Neon.

Shaky Stage 2

As VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - EMEA Stage 2 started, things became shakier for Heretics. After failing to secure a playoff spot directly from the Group Stage, their journey continued through the Play-Ins. However, their Stage 2 run came to an abrupt end after back-to-back losses against two Tier 2 teams, Fire Flux Esports and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Throughout their matches, fans could see that Koshmaras had lost his presence on the server. His Neon executes were no longer working, and it became difficult for him to have any meaningful impact on the game.

In an interview with THESPIKE after being eliminated from Stage 2, Koshmaras himself was highly disappointed in his performance.

Heretics looking for a Change

Heretics have now started rebuilding their roster, with their offseason already underway. Just a day ago, their IGL, Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius, announced that he was looking for a new team while still under contract with Heretics. Now, Heretics have said goodbye to Koshmaras, who originally had a contract until 2028, and it remains unclear what will happen to the rest of the squad.
