Team Vitality eliminated by T1 in Masters Bangkok lower bracket semifinals
Team Vitality’s journey at VCT 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025 came to an end after a hard-fought battle against T1 in the lower bracket semifinals. The European squad fell 1-2 to the Pacific representatives, finishing in 4th place and taking home $35,000 in prize money.
Journey through Bangkok
Vitality entered Masters Bangkok with high expectations as the VCT EMEA first seed. They started strong, cruising through the Swiss Stage with two clean wins to secure an early Playoffs qualification. However, their momentum was halted by G2 Esports, who swept them 2-0 in the upper bracket semifinals, forcing them into the lower bracket.
T1, on the other hand, had a more turbulent journey. They survived an elimination match in the Swiss Stage before securing a 2-0 revenge sweep against DRX. Their upper bracket run was short-lived, as EDward Gaming knocked them down with a 2-1 victory in the semifinals. Determined to stay in the tournament, T1 set their sights on Vitality.
T1’s Comeback Victory Secures Lower Bracket Finals Spot
T1 started strong on Lotus, capitalizing on Vitality’s slow start to take an 8-4 halftime lead. Although the European squad found their rhythm and pushed the game into a tight 11-11 scoreline, they ultimately edged out T1 in overtime 14-12.
Refusing to back down, T1 struck back on Haven with another dominant first half, leading 8-4. Unlike the previous game, they denied Vitality any room for a comeback, sweeping the second half 5-0 to close out the map 13-4.
With both teams fighting for survival, the decider map on Split was a fierce battle early on. However, T1 found their groove, taking a 9-3 lead at halftime. Vitality attempted a late-game resurgence, but T1’s momentum was too strong, securing the 13-5 victory and eliminating Vitality from the tournament.
What’s Next?
With this win, T1 will face EDward Gaming once again in the lower bracket finals on 1 March in a Best-of-Five series. The winner will move on to the grand finals against G2 Esports for a shot at the first international title of the year.
For Team Vitality, their Masters Bangkok journey ends with a 4th-place finish, as they shift their focus to VCT 2025 - EMEA Stage 1.
