Tejo takes over as most-played agent at VCT Masters Bangkok 2025 through Swiss Stage
Over the last weekend, four talented teams at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025 have battled their way through the Swiss Stage to earn themselves a spot in the playoffs. The agent meta has clearly been defined over the course of 10 series, with one agent taking the spotlight: Tejo. The Colombian initiator has been one of the most impactful picks in the tournament so far, with a plethora of different abilities to clear angles, scout out sites, and flush out opponents for easy kills.
"Go ahead, stand your ground!"
Tejo has been the most-picked agent at Masters Bangkok, having been picked in 48.33 percent of maps, the highest of any agent at the event so far. He has been a must-pick for a handful of teams on specific maps, including Fracture, where he has a 100 percent pick rate through six matches. Having only been released at the beginning of the year, his kit allows professional teams to take sites with ease, and combine abilities to destroy enemy setups with a few clicks from their mouse and keyboard.
However, there is a slight caveat: seven of those picks were solely by DRX’s No "free1ng" Ha-jun, who almost exclusively plays Tejo and is considered to be one of the best Tejo players in the world. Now that DRX has been eliminated from the tournament, there is a chance that Tejo usage drops slightly, but not by a lot.
Although Freeing was effectively a Tejo main, he wasn’t the only player who used the agent and DRX wasn’t the only team who used Tejo frequently. EDward Gaming has used Tejo in every series they’ve played so far, whereas G2 Esports has played Tejo in all but two maps at the event. Clearly, he has been established as a premier pick for most well-coordinated rosters that can take advantage of the opportunities that his utility gives.
Boom brothers
Throughout the tournament, Breach has been a popular pick to pair alongside Tejo, due to how well their kits compliment each other. Right now, the two agents have been picked side-by-side 100 percent of the time that Fracture is played, due to their area control and synergy, being able to clear multiple angles and any sentinel utility, allowing teams to flood onto site without worry of a setup.
They have proven to be a lethal combination and will continue to do so as the tournament rages on, seeing as the remaining teams have shown to have a penchant for using Tejo and Breach. The combination has also been used multiple times on Haven and Lotus, and should be picks to look out for moving ahead into the playoffs.
Other leaders
On the sentinels front, the use of sentinels in this tournament has shifted so now Vyse is the most played agent in the role with a 23.88 percent pick rate. It is the high percentage of any sentinel in the game, because of the emergence of Tejo and his ability to break setups. Vyse’s wall cannot be destroyed by Tejo’s Guided Salvo, and her flash can be placed away from the action and in a safe spot. As expected, Killjoy has only been played once at the tournament, due to her whole kit being counterable by Tejo. All of her abilities, including her ultimate ability, can be destroyed practically for free by Tejo’s Guided Salvo, if the player is privy to the location of her setup, and since he has become a must-pick, Killjoy has become non-existent in the meta.
Yoru, the tournament’s most-played duelist thus far, is currently at a 31.67 percent play rate. Since he can give so much information to his team with his Dimensional Drift ultimate, he can get free kills by coming out of his ultimate alongside Breach and Tejo’s stuns, by telling them exactly where they need to place their utility. He allows players to play across the map with his Gatecrash, and can play mind games and trigger setups with his clone. He has so much utility to take a site, that its hard not to pick Yoru for any map.
Smoke supremacy
Looking at the rest of the pack, it seems that a couple of controller agents’ domain has been established on a couple of maps. Omen, for example, has been picked 100 percent of the time on Lotus, while Brimstone has been picked 100 percent of the time on Fracture.
Brimstone is a great pick for Fracture because of the multiple angles that he can cover with his three smokes. Omen is a great pick on Lotus, because of the many places he can teleport to for great surprise angles on the enemy such as on top of A Rubble. He can also create chaos with some well-placed smokes on site for him to teleport into, and his blind can clear common angles that players like to hold to carve a path for him and his teammates.
Looking ahead, it seems we have a good grasp on the meta heading into the playoffs, and there shouldn't be too many surprises in these upcoming matches. If you want to keep an eye out on the competition moving forward, keep locked in with THESPIKE.GG.
