The new map, Icebox, to be released with VALORANT Act III

Since the beginning of October, Riot Games has been teasing fans with mysterious graphics posted on the official VALORANT social media channels. As VALORANT Act III is fast approaching, according to the previous words of the developers, everything looked as if we were getting a new Agent very soon, even though it hasn’t been very long since the release of Killjoy. A lot of players have been wishing for a new map, as the promise of six agents per year, with lack of the new maps, has often been highlighted by the members of the community.

Surprisingly, today, Riot Games has published an official trailer of a new map coming to the game in a few weeks with the launch of VALORANT Act III.

According to the trailer the new map will be called Icebox and will be set in the Arctic Tundra. With a ship being visible on the video, it seems oddly familiar to the previously revealed and eventually scrapped design of Split. At that time, people were very excited about the Antarctica-like map, so the upcoming inclusion in the game will definitely be loved.

The addition of Icebox will definitely bring a breeze of fresh air to the competitive community, which has been very vocal about the lack of maps. It’s hard to not agree with them, as since the release of VALORANT we only had Haven, Bind, and Split available with the addition of Ascent with the full launch of the game. Meanwhile, since that time, we’ve gotten a few new Agents, including Reyna and Killjoy.

It’s a great time to receive this map, as First Strike is happening soon, and it will not only bring variety for the teams when it comes to the picks and bans of the maps but also an exciting viewing experience that might finally let us see the full best-of-5 match being played on all of the available maps.
