VALORANT Mobile x Blades of the Guardian bundle: What it means for Riot’s future collaborations

As shown on popular leak account @VALORANTLeaksEN, Riot Games is going to announce a new bundle for VALORANT Mobile in collaboration with Blades of the Guardians, which will include:

• Playercards
• Sprays
• Title
• Avatar
• Avatar Border

VALORANT’s first external collaboration arrives on Mobile

According to the trailer reaction, this new collaboration with Blades of the Guardians immediately stands out. It marks the first collaboration of this kind outside of Arcane, bringing Riot Games into a crossover with an external franchise for VALORANT Mobile.

There are a few clear reasons behind the decision to release it only on the mobile version. First, Blades of the Guardians is especially popular in China, which is also the only region where VALORANT Mobile has launched so far. That makes it a smart way to appeal to a local audience and introduce the game to new fans.

The move could also be a test. Since this is the first external collaboration for VALORANT, Riot may be using it to gauge player reaction before deciding whether to expand this type of content further.

Personally, I am not a big fan of this kind of crossover. Things can get messy when too much external content is introduced into a game. The beauty of Riot’s games is that each one has its own world. Just think about Runeterra in League of Legends and the depth of its lore. With that in mind, who really needs external collaborations?

The better move is to keep expanding the VALORANT universe itself. That would allow Riot to create more content, stronger narratives, and bundles that come from the game’s own identity rather than borrowing from somewhere else.
