VALORANT Patch Notes 12.06: Changes coming to Waylay, Viper, and cosmetics

Riot Games has released the VALORANT patch 12.06 notes, going live today. This update continues the fine-tuning of the game with a mix of cosmetic changes and bug fixes. While no nerfs to Neon have been introduced, a notable adjustment is coming to Waylay, making her slightly slower during executes.

Agent Updates

Waylay

Waylay is becoming a more prominent Agent in competitive play. While Riot is pleased that she has found a solid role in team compositions, they’ve also identified that her Saturate ability creates situations with little to no counterplay when combined with the rest of her kit.

The common use of Waylay’s dash ability alongside Saturate allows her to pressure opponents with minimal risk. To address this, Riot is changing Saturate from an instant cast ability to an equip ability. This prevents her from instantly applying Hinder to enemies while airborne or reacting immediately on contact without putting herself at greater risk.

• Saturate changed from INSTANT to EQUIP.

Viper

Viper is also receiving an update in this patch, targeting her ultimate and its environmental spread. While not the most noticeable change, Riot aims to make Viper’s Pit behave more consistently and eliminate cases where it fails to deploy properly, especially in certain areas of specific maps.

• Viper’s Pit chemical cloud has been updated to be more consistent in the way it spreads around map geometry.

Cosmetic changes

Riot continues to invest in improving the game’s UI and cosmetic experience. This patch includes updates to end-of-game screens and minor quality-of-life improvements.

• Victory, Defeat, and Draw end-of-game visuals and sound effects have been updated
• Flex movement speed has been increased to match melee movement speed (applies to all past and future Flex items)
• The Battlepass now includes arrow buttons for easier navigation between chapters and reward tiers
