Verno set to become new IGL for MIBR

Following the team’s loss to KRÜ Esports in the first round of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Americas Stage 2, MIBR have decided to make a major change in its VALORANT lineup. According to a report by Bruno Povoleri from THESPIKE Brazil, Andrew "Verno" Maust will take over the role of IGL and team captain for the squad, which previously belonged to Arthur "artzin" Araujo.

Artzin steps down, Verno takes over

As it turns out, the decision to step down from the role of IGL came from artzin himself. The Brazilian player went on to inform coach Danny "fRoD" Montaner about his decision, who then opted to assign the role to Verno.

As for MIBR’s new captain, Verno had already shown interest in being the team’s IGL in the past, and had already been performing the role of “second caller” for the team for some time. In the end, the change will turn out to be a “role swap” between the two players, with artzin now becoming the team’s second caller moving forward instead.

In need of change

Artzin had been MIBR’s IGL since February of this year, when fRoD himself announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the player had taken over the role from Agustin "nzr" Ibarra. At the time, the team’s coach had high praise for artzin. Just one month later, in March, MIBR signed Verno to replace nzr.

Nearly half a year after assuming the role of IGL, artzin and the rest of MIBR have not managed to perform up to expectations. The Brazilian team was eliminated early on from VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025, and currently has five consecutive losses in VCT competitions.

Now, with Verno as IGL, MIBR will return to the server on Sunday, July 27th, when they will take on the new-look Leviatán in Stage 2 of the Americas.
