"We didn't play like how we do in practice, and didn't show up today." - Cryo on the reason behind loss

100 Thieves did not have the best start to VCT 2023 - Americas League but were able to come back in their second matchup rather strongly against Evil Geniuses hoping to start a momentum run. However, having a face off against Cloud9 in their subsequent matchup proved to be unfortunate as the team suffered a 0-2 loss on Lotus and Ascent. THESPIKE.GG was granted the opportunity to conduct an interview with Matthew "Cryocells" Panganiban breaking down their thoughts on the game, coming off a loss, individual performances and more.

THESPIKE.GG: What were the emotions running like immediately after the result became apparent? Especially coming off of a win last week, does this loss hit even more worse considering that you were trying to build up a momentum and going on a winning streak?

Cryo: Yeah, obviously sucks. We just didn't play like how we do in practice, and didn't show up today.

THESPIKE.GG: What do you think, if you were to pinpoint one reason or a main reason behind the loss today, what would it be?

Cryo: Nothing much we just didn't play like how we did in practice.

THESPIKE.GG: Do you think one of the things about today was that you guys had to play on Lotus considering that you didn’t have any data on Cloud9? That you didn't have enough set plays designed??

Cryo: It's not that we didn't have the plays. We just didn't come out with confidence today.

THESPIKE.GG: What about on Ascent? If you guys had been able to close out overtime, do you think you would have taken out the third map or do you think the confidence was an all-time low that even if you did go to the decider, you wouldn't have been able to pull through??

Cryo: Yeah, I mean third map was definitely possible if we came back. We were feeling pretty good about ourselves, like turning towards the end of Ascent outside of OT, but OT, a few things just didn't go our way.

THESPIKE.GG: Also on Lotus, I noticed that you played Jet instead of Raze that you did last time around. What do you think the reason is in this change of comp?

Cryo: We were just trying out comps and we just decided to run this comp instead.

THESPIKE.GG: You guys are in the third week and down 1-2. Does that add more urgency to winning your upcoming games?

Cryo: I mean yeah, for sure. It definitely adds more pressure. We just need to lock in and try to get the wins and even just as many rounds as possible.

THESPIKE.GG: What do you think about your individual performance today? How did it rank up against the last two times you played in a Americas league??

Cryo: Kind of hard to tell, but I mean for myself, probably under expectations, but I think it's a of like a team thing, how we lost.
