Will we keep our Rank on June 2nd?

With VALORANT’s release coming on June 2nd, Community Lead Chris “PWYFF” Tom shared some more information on Reddit about ranked. We talked about details that Riot Games gave us in their Dev Blog post a few days ago, so check it out if you missed it.

First of all, there will not be a competitive queue at launch, the developers want to make sure everything is working as expected and if that’s the case, ranked will be enabled a few weeks after servers go live. Matchmaking Ratio (MMR) from ranked will be reset, but some (or all) of it from unranked games will be carried over. Chris Tom also confirmed that normal games and competitive games have different MMR ratings. With that being said, he encourages players: “Play unranked to improve at the game, learn as much new stuff as you can in a less high-stakes environment, and then bring that over to your ranked games. I guarantee that's going to be the best way to get a high placement in the future.”

As a final note, he clarifies a little misunderstanding from their latest Dev Blog post about the exclusive Twitch/VALORANT player card. Anyone who was eligible to get the Valorant drop (linked Riot Account with Twitch Account and watched any streamers playing VALORANT) will get the exclusive player card irrelevant of if you managed to play the game or not in Closed Beta.
