EA FC 27 Icons are starting to take shape, and this year’s new class has some very familiar names. Sergio Agüero, Christine Sinclair, Raphaël Varane, Pepe, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are all part of the new group. EA has confirmed 10 new Icons in total, alongside eight returning names tied to the International Icon pre-order reward.

There is one thing you should know before looking at the ratings, though. The 89 to 91 OVR cards EA has shown are the stronger Champion versions. The International Icon cards you can get through the FC 27 pre-order bonus start at 85 or 86 OVR instead. EA plans to upgrade those cards to their Champion versions by November 30, 2026.

All announced EA FC 27 Icons

EA has confirmed 10 players for the new Class of ’27. Some are legends from an older generation, while others only stepped away from top-level football fairly recently.

That makes this class feel a little different from the Icon groups players may remember from older FIFA games. Agüero, Varane, Pepe, and Ellen White are names many players watched throughout the 2010s, so their arrival in EA FC 27 Ultimate Team will probably feel familiar straight away.

There is plenty of variety here. Agüero gives Premier League fans another elite striker, while Varane and Pepe bring two Champions League-winning centre-backs into the Icon pool.

The women’s side also gets several major additions. Sinclair finished her international career with 190 goals for Canada, while Formiga played at seven FIFA Women’s World Cups for Brazil. Tobin Heath, Ellen White, Hege Riise, and Yūki Nagasato add more options across midfield and attack.

Sinclair also becomes the first Canadian player to receive Icon status in EA Sports FC, which makes her one of the more notable additions to this year’s class.

Returning Icons in FC 27

The new players are only part of the story. EA has also named eight returning Icons as part of the 18-player International Icon pool:

• Zinedine Zidane
• Ruud Gullit
• Fernando Torres
• Gianluca Zambrotta
• Lúcio
• Andrea Pirlo
• Yaya Touré
• Bastian Schweinsteiger

Most of those names will already be familiar to Ultimate Team players. Lúcio and Yaya Touré are the exceptions for a different reason.

Both players appeared as Heroes in previous EA Sports FC games. In FC 27, EA moves them into the Icon category instead. So if you used their Hero cards before, you will now find them in the same group as players such as Zidane, Gullit, and Pirlo.

Who are the highest-rated EA FC 27 Icons?

Ruud Gullit, Zinedine Zidane, and Christine Sinclair currently share the highest Champion rating among the 18 announced International Icons. All three reach 91 OVR.

Sinclair is the highest-rated player from the new Class of ’27. Just behind her, Agüero, Varane, Formiga, Rummenigge, Riise, and Heath all reach 90 OVR on their Champion versions.

Nagasato, Pepe, and Ellen White come in at 89 OVR.

The overall number is useful, but it does not tell you everything. EA has also given the new Icons PlayStyle+ traits that match how they played.

Agüero and Sinclair both have Finesse Shot+, which should suit players who like curling shots into the corners. Varane comes with Anticipate+, while Pepe gets Bruiser+. Those traits could matter just as much as the base stats once the FC 27 meta starts to settle.

Rummenigge also looks very strong on paper. His Champion card has 91 pace, 89 shooting, and 91 dribbling. Agüero has 90 pace and 89 shooting, while Varane reaches 90 defending.

Still, it is too early to call one of them the best EA FC 27 Icon. Body type, animations, PlayStyles, and the way FC 27 actually plays will all matter once players get their hands on the game.

How to get an EA FC 27 International Icon

If you want one of these Icons early, the FC 27 pre-order bonus is where things get interesting.

Players who pre-order the Ultimate Edition or Ultimate Plus Edition by August 31, 2026 can receive one untradeable 85+ OVR International Icon player item for Ultimate Team.

You do not get to choose the player. EA draws the reward from an 18-player pool made up of the 10 new Class of ’27 Icons and the eight returning Icons listed above.

The card becomes available when early access starts on September 18, 2026. It then receives its Champion upgrade by November 30, 2026.

So, for example, you might initially get an 85 or 86 OVR version of one of the new Icons. That card later moves to its stronger Champion rating.
There is also a separate pre-order reward that can easily cause confusion.

Some FC 27 editions include a 93+ Icon Player Pick for EA Sports FC 26. That reward stays in FC 26. The 85+ International Icon is the one you actually receive in FC 27.

Will more EA FC 27 Icons be announced?

Right now, EA lists 10 new players as the official Class of ’27. The company has also named the eight returning Icons connected to the International Icon reward.

That does not necessarily mean we already know every Icon card that will appear during the full Ultimate Team season.

EA regularly releases new versions of Icons through promos, SBCs, objectives, and seasonal events. Existing players can receive stronger cards later in the year, and EA could also announce more names after launch.
