Everything You Need to Know About Viktor in League of Legends
Viktor is one of the best burst mages and control majors in League of Legends so here is everything you need to know about Viktor in League of Legends!ON THIS PAGE:

Viktor has always been known as a powerful scaling mage in League of Legends. With his recent rework, he now has more control over how he grows during a match. This champion no longer depends on a special item to unlock his upgrades. Instead, he earns his power through farming and fighting. Here is a closer look at the new Viktor and a comparison between the old and reworked versions!
Viktor's abilities after the rework
Viktor’s Reworked Passive: Glorious Evolution

Official Description: Viktor gains Hex Fragments whenever he kills an enemy. With every 100 Hex Fragments he obtains, Viktor permanently augments an active ability. After upgrading all of his basic abilities, he can gather 100 Hex Fragments to augment his ultimate ability.
This system gives Viktor more freedom. He no longer needs to spend gold on Hex Core items. Instead, he powers up by farming well and staying involved in fights. This makes his scaling feel more natural and gives players a clear path to power.
Viktor’s Reworked Q: Siphon Power

Official Description: Viktor blasts an enemy unit with magic damage, which grants him a shield and empowers his next basic attack. Augment: Siphon Power's shield is increased by 60% and Viktor gains bonus move speed after casting the Ability.
The upgrade makes the shield stronger and gives Viktor a speed boost. This helps him survive trades, dodge skillshots, or chase down enemies. The spell also gives him better trading power in lane and more control in small fights.
Viktor’s Reworked W: Gravity Field

Official Description: Viktor conjures a heavy gravitational field that slows enemies caught within its radius. Enemies who stay in the field for too long become stunned. Augment: Viktor's spells apply a slow to enemies.
The upgrade causes all of Viktor’s abilities to apply a slow. This change makes his combos more dangerous. Enemies who get caught are more likely to take extra hits before escaping. Gravity Field is still his only way to protect himself, so players must use it carefully.
Viktor’s Reworked E: Hextech Ray

Official Description: Viktor uses his biomechanical arm to fire a Hextech Ray that cuts across the field in a line, dealing damage to all enemies in its path. Augment: An explosion follows in the Hextech Ray's wake, dealing magic damage.
The upgrade adds a delayed explosion that follows the laser. This gives Viktor better poke and makes his wave clear faster. It also helps him deal more damage in teamfights and punish enemies who try to dodge the first part.
Viktor’s Reworked R: Arcane Storm

Official Description: Viktor conjures an Arcane Storm on the field, dealing magic damage and interrupting enemy channels. The storm periodically does magic damage to all nearby enemies and can be redirected by Viktor. Augment: The Arcane Storm moves 25% faster, and whenever champions die after taking damage from it, the storm grows and increases in its duration.
The upgraded version makes the storm faster, and when champions die after taking damage from it, the storm grows in size and lasts longer. This makes it more useful in long fights and helps Viktor clean up enemies after landing a good combo.
Viktor’s abilities before the rework
Passive: Glorious Evolution

Whenever Viktor reaches 100 Hex Fragments one of his abilities is upgraded. This goes up until he reaches 300 stacks. When upgrading his final basic ability, Viktor's ultimate Chaos Storm also upgrades as well.
Viktor can collect Hex Fragments from killing various minions monsters and champions across the Rift. Each provides a different value and those are:
- Minions and monsters provide one Hex Fragment
- Cannon minions, super minions and epic Monsters provide five Hex Fragments
- Enemy champion takedowns give Viktor 25 Hex Fragments
Q: Siphon Power

Viktor launches a small device at the enemy that deals up to 120 Magic Damage plus 40% of Viktors AP, and also grants a shield of up to 105 plus 18% of his AP for two and a half seconds.
He also gains the ability ‘Discharge’ for three and a half seconds, which allows his next basic attack to become empowered - dealing modified Magic Damage of up to 120 plus 100% of his ad plus 60% of his AP.
When fully upgraded, the device will give Viktor movement speed of up to 30% for 2.5 seconds, and the shield strength will be increased by 60% to 184 plus 32% of his AP.
W: Gravity Field

Viktor throws out a small AOE circle for four seconds, and after just under a second it will activate. This slows enemies within it until they leave the Gravity Field. This slow is up to 45% at level 5.
For every half a second that enemies are in the Gravity Field, they gain a stack. At three stacks they are knocked down and stunned for 1.5 seconds, but they can no longer be slowed by the Gravity Field after this.
When augmented, Viktor’s other basic abilities, being his Q and his E, also slow enemies by 20% for one second.
E: Death Ray

This ability is his main wave clear ability, and has him fire a beam of energy along a set path dealing up to 230 Magic Damage plus 50% of his AP.
When upgraded, the path also explodes after the beam has been fired, dealing an additional 140 Magic Damage plus 80% of Viktor’s ability power.
R: Chaos Storm

Viktor summons an AOE storm of energy at the target location, which deals up to 250 Magic Damage plus 50% of his AP. When it lands it will also stop any current abilities being channeled.
This remains active for six and a half seconds, which deals 145 Magic Damage plus 45% of Viktor's AP every second. It will automatically target the nearest champion it hits when first landing.
When targeting an enemy champion, the Chaos Storm will follow them and move faster when it's closer to Viktor. He can also recast it to target and direct the Chaos Storm wherever he chooses.
When Chaos Storm gets upgraded, the Storm moves 25% faster, but when Viktor dies the Chaos Storm will still chase its target until the 6.5-second duration is over.
When was Viktor released in League of Legends?
Viktor has been in League of Legends for well over a decade now, being released on December 29, 2011. This was in Patch 1.0.0.131, which also came alongside Ahri being released on December 14, 2011.
His release skins were Full Machine Viktor and Prototype Viktor.
Where is Viktor from in League of Legends?

So if you've watched the hit TV show arcane on Netflix you'll know the Viktor comes from and is currently in Zaun. Whilst most of his journey isn't necessarily documented in Arcane as of yet, we do know a little bit more about him.
We know that in Zaun as an inventor he ends up creating the champion we know and love in Blitzcrank. Now, whether we see Blitzcrank in Arcane is yet to be known, but it would be awesome if we do!
Viktor’s Age in League of Legends

Being of a similar age to Jayce in the League of Legends lore, and considering Arcane is canon and is the lore that League of Legends will be continuing to update, we know that Viktor is between 29 and 36 years of age. This means he was born between 961 AN and 968 AN.
Viktor’s Voice Actor in League of Legends

Owen Thomas is the voice actor for Viktor in League of Legends and Legends of Runeterra, and he also voices Twisted Fate in both games.
In the Arcane TV show Viktor's voiced by Harry Lloyd and a young Viktor is voiced by Edan Hayhurst.
Why did Viktor get reworked?
Riot changed Viktor because his old design had problems. He needed to buy a unique item (Hex Core) to upgrade his skills, which limited his build options. If he fell behind early, he could not scale well. Also, his playstyle felt outdated compared to other mages.
Now, his upgrades come from Hex Fragments, which makes the champion feel smoother and more rewarding. The new system helps him stay useful in all stages of the game. Players also have more freedom with item choices, which improves build flexibility and strategy.
How to play Viktor after rework
The rework gives Viktor more impact throughout the game. He still needs time to scale, but he now has better tools to stay safe and farm early.
Best Runes and Items
- Primary Rune: First Strike works well because it gives bonus gold and damage. Electrocute is also good for burst trades.
- Secondary Tree: Use Sorcery for mana sustain and extra damage.
- Core Items: Luden’s Companion or Liandry’s Torment are both strong. Choose Luden’s for burst or Liandry’s for longer fights. Follow with Shadowflame, Rabadon’s Deathcap, and Zhonya’s Hourglass.
Laning and Early Game
In the early game, focus on farming and staying safe. Viktor is not very strong before he upgrades one or two abilities. Use E to clear waves and Q to trade safely. Don’t fight unless you see an opening. Keep vision around your lane to avoid ganks and collect Hex Fragments steadily.
Mid Game
Viktor starts becoming useful in team fights once he has two or more upgrades. Rotate with your team and use your abilities to poke enemies before fights. In small skirmishes, use Gravity Field to slow or stun, then follow up with E and Q. Look for chances to pick off isolated enemies or help take objectives like Dragon or Baron.

Late Game
In the late game, Viktor becomes a strong teamfight mage. Stay close to your team and use your range to poke down enemies before fights begin. Use Arcane Storm to start or clean up fights. Place Gravity Field in choke points or near carries to control space. Always watch your positioning. Viktor deals a lot of damage, but can get caught if he moves too far forward.
Old Viktor vs New Viktor
- Hex Core is gone. Power now comes from Hex Fragments.
- Q offers more mobility, which improves trades and escape options.
- E has extra damage, making Viktor stronger in lane and teamfights.
- R has more scaling in fights and better control.
- The new Viktor rewards active play and better positioning throughout the game.
Is Viktor a villain in LoL?
Viktor is not a typical villain. Some characters see him as one, but his goal is to improve humanity through technology. He believes emotions and weakness slow down progress. He does not want power for himself. He wants to build a better future by removing flaws in human nature.
Why did Viktor become evil?
Viktor started as a smart inventor who cared about helping people. He believed technology could improve life. But others rejected his ideas, and he felt alone. After Piltover’s leaders pushed him aside, he stopped trusting people. He began working on his own. He replaced his body with machines and focused only on progress. This shift made him look more dangerous to others.
Why does Viktor hate Jayce?
Viktor and Jayce once worked together. But Jayce destroyed one of Viktor’s inventions because he thought it was unsafe. That event broke their trust. Viktor sees Jayce as someone who cares more about fame than real progress. Jayce sees Viktor as a threat. Their different views turned them into enemies.
What lane is Viktor?
Viktor plays in the mid lane. He uses magic to control space and deal damage. His power grows as the game goes on.
If you want to be a Viktor god then hopefully this helped. But if you feel like he isn't for you, we have a ton of other champion guides and here are just a few to get you started!
