On the second day of VCT 2022 OFF SEASON - Red Bull Home Ground 2022, we witnessed three matches of the playoffs. Firstly, Team Heretics and Team Liquid got eliminated. Secondly, 100 Thieves took down Team Vitality in the first semifinal match and became the first grand-finalists of the tournament. The other grand final ticket will be set tomorrow. KRÜ Esports and Cloud9 are going to compete against each other to come up against 100T in the final.

Quarterfinals

The first quarterfinal game starred Team Vitality and Team Heretics, two EMEA representatives. Vitality were the dominant side in both maps as they won Haven with a score of 13-7 and Pearl after 21 rounds, 13-8. The Polish player MOLSI had a great performance, holding a 1.53 rating throughout the series on Raze and KAY/O. He grabbed 40 kills with a 1.67 K/D. On the other side, AvovA tried his best with a 1.20 rating on Astra but it wasn’t enough. Heretics’ m1xwell and keloqz didn’t have the best performances as the Spanish player finished the game with a 0.62 rating and keloqz with 0.58.

KRÜ Esports and Team Liquid competed against each other in the second quarterfinal game of the day. Both maps were very close but especially the first one, Bind, ended with a score of 13-11. KRÜ won the map mainly thanks to NagZ and xand who carried the team on the scoreboard. The LATAM representatives closed out the series after a 13-9 win on Ascent. KRÜ Esports kicked Liquid out of the race. The EMEA team left the tournament before seeing the semifinals but they had two stand-ins as nAts and Redgar faced visa issues.

Semifinals

Only one semifinal game was played today between the only undefeated team in the tournament, 100 Thieves, and Team Vitality, the team that sent Heretics home earlier in the day. Vitality picked Pearl to start the semifinal series and the competition was very tough until the end. 100 Thieves once again won the race and took advantage in the series with a score of 14-12 on Pearl. Cryo played out of his mind with 31 kills on Chamber and a 1.50 rating. 100T played much more confidently on their map pick, Fracture, and finished the series easily after 18 rounds, 13-5. Cryo once again smurfed the game with 22 kills and a 1.56 rating. MOLSI tried his best with Neon in his hands, holding a 1.12 rating with 16 kills.

The second semifinal game will be played tomorrow between Cloud9 and KRÜ Esports. As mentioned, 100 Thieves are your first finalists of the Red Bull Home Ground Manchester event. The second semifinal match as well as the grand final game will take place tomorrow.
