100 Thieves release former PUBG players, sign nitr0

Written By    Mostafeto  -  Share:

100 Thieves’ CEO, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, recently made it known he isn’t happy with how his organization’s esports rosters across different games are performing, and promised changes. They came sooner than we expected.

100 Thieves have announced today the signing of former Team Liquid CS:GO in-game leader Nick “nitr0” Canella. In addition, they have released the rest of their roster with the exception of Spencer "Hiko" Martin. The players leaving the squad are Alfred "Pride" Choi, Keane "Valliate" Alonso, Zachary "Venerated" Roach, and Diondre "YaBoiDre" Bond.

The team’s performances were underwhelming to say the least, with a feeling of dependency on Spencer "Hiko" Martin to get them out of difficult situations. However, in a team game like VALORANT, there is so much one player can do. 100 Thieves’ record in all VALORANT competitions is 4 wins and 11 losses. They were knocked out of the first round of the FaZe Clan VALORANT Invitational, and out of the group stages in the PAX Arena VALORANT Invitational, Their highest finish was 5th-6th in the T1 x NSG Showdown, their first official event together as a team.

The signing of nitr0 marks the rebuilding of 100 Thieves’ VALORANT roster, which leaves 3 more empty slots to fill. The former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive legend revealed his switch to VALORANT earlier this week, and the competitive scene has been buzzing on where he will land. The American has been a star of Team Liquid’s CS:GO roster since 2015, winning an immense amount of titles during his career. He won the Intel Extreme Masters XIV Sydney, DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019, ESL One: Cologne 2019, BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles 2019, and the Intel Extreme Masters XIV Chicago to name just a few.

It is worth mentioning we haven’t seen nitr0 compete in VALORANT yet. However, making the transition from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to Riot Games’ tactical shooter is easier than coming from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which was the entire former roster’s background.

Who do you think will join Spencer "Hiko" Martin and Nick “nitr0” Canella on the 100 Thieves VALORANT squad? Let us know your guesses in the comments below!

The current 100 Thieves roster consists of:

Nick “nitr0” Canella Spencer "Hiko" Martin

holy... that was way soon

Wish they would've kept venerated or maybe pride, both were pretty good. Hoping to see roca on this team, not sure who else is really left after that which is why I wish they would've kept a few pubg boys around. Maybe there's some CS players switching that we don't really know of.

Daddy Shroud?
2020-08-14 15:35
He's not going pro man. Way too much money in streaming and tbh I don't think he can cut it at that level anymore.
2020-08-14 15:37
supamen on homeless seems like an easy pickup
2020-08-14 16:19
Rumour on the block is that homeless is getting signed in full to dignitas.
2020-08-14 16:32
yeah i saw they were announced for a tourney but with no roster DIG has that full female team which could be playing i guess but i highly doubt it. Homeless has talent forsure
2020-08-14 16:56
I doubt the female team will play. Idk whats the purpose behind their signing but they will play in tournaments eventually for sure.
2020-08-15 13:31
Doubt hé cares much about the "missed" streaming money after what he cashed with that contract.
when hes hyped enough and his soul cries for it, why selling it ;) beside that he could still stream his endeavours.
and also have allot more hardcore avi material
shroudy rowdi will surrender into his flowstates anyway think he will still cut it after some experience on that level.
2020-08-14 18:02
Yes, that's true, he cashed in huge on the mixer contract. Doesn't mean he's ok with giving up the streaming life, though. It's a much, much easier life, and he's repeatedly stated that he doesn't want to go back to the pro grind.
2020-08-14 19:03
I like how everyone said 100T should kick the actually pro valorant players, which is fair enough given they weren't playing well, but then sound like replacing them with a streamer who is nowhere good enough, just famous, will fix the problems..

Huh? It is not just any kind of streamers lol. This is Shroud were talking about bro.

2020-08-14 16:21
never heard that one ?
2020-08-14 17:17
Full CS roster? Roca, android, yay?
2020-08-14 15:48
Who knows who they are picking up next but for sure it was a bold move by 100 Thieves to release their full roster and rebuild everything from scratch. It was inevitable to happen and nitr0's public interest in Valorant is probably what triggered it for Nadeshot that it is time.
2020-08-14 16:13
yeah it was a bold move to sign a team of pubg players but they had good chemistry and im sure they know a few high profile cs players would make the swiitch after they saw the pro scene play out always seemed like a temp lineup to me except hiko

2020-08-14 16:33
these boys need n0thing on the roster. stop naming tier 5 cs players to add.

2020-08-14 17:23
Isnt he signed already?
2020-08-14 19:16
no he parted ways with faze over roster disputes

2020-08-14 20:31
yep, and it was so weird revealing he is the team captain in the announcement video yet not playing with the squad in their first tournament.
2020-08-15 13:32
I could very well see that happening.
2020-08-17 12:14
thats good stuff!
2020-08-14 17:25

2020-08-14 18:56

2020-08-14 23:38
Nadeshot man of his words, 100t looking good so far! :D
2020-08-15 02:16
yesss, he really acted on his words a few days after. Never expected him to be so quick but I guess since Valorant is so young, we will see these moves being done quicker than usual compared to established esports scenes
2020-08-15 12:05
100T is no longer a joke. Good luck Nitr0
2020-08-15 09:43
they never were imo. their performances were decent but they were lacking in a few areas for sure.
2020-08-15 12:05
What do you expect, 4 PUBG players and 1 experienced CSGO player. You might aswell say its 1vs5.
2020-08-15 14:12
exactly how it was pictured to be
2020-08-19 21:12
Exactly, joke team.
2020-08-20 10:27
nitr0 is going to do great things in this game and wish him the best of luck.
