100 Thieves’ CEO, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, recently made it known he isn’t happy with how his organization’s esports rosters across different games are performing, and promised changes. They came sooner than we expected.

100 Thieves have announced today the signing of former Team Liquid CS:GO in-game leader Nick “nitr0” Canella. In addition, they have released the rest of their roster with the exception of Spencer "Hiko" Martin. The players leaving the squad are Alfred "Pride" Choi, Keane "Valliate" Alonso, Zachary "Venerated" Roach, and Diondre "YaBoiDre" Bond.

The team’s performances were underwhelming to say the least, with a feeling of dependency on Spencer "Hiko" Martin to get them out of difficult situations. However, in a team game like VALORANT, there is so much one player can do. 100 Thieves’ record in all VALORANT competitions is 4 wins and 11 losses. They were knocked out of the first round of the FaZe Clan VALORANT Invitational, and out of the group stages in the PAX Arena VALORANT Invitational, Their highest finish was 5th-6th in the T1 x NSG Showdown, their first official event together as a team.

The signing of nitr0 marks the rebuilding of 100 Thieves’ VALORANT roster, which leaves 3 more empty slots to fill. The former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive legend revealed his switch to VALORANT earlier this week, and the competitive scene has been buzzing on where he will land. The American has been a star of Team Liquid’s CS:GO roster since 2015, winning an immense amount of titles during his career. He won the Intel Extreme Masters XIV Sydney, DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019, ESL One: Cologne 2019, BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles 2019, and the Intel Extreme Masters XIV Chicago to name just a few.

It is worth mentioning we haven’t seen nitr0 compete in VALORANT yet. However, making the transition from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to Riot Games’ tactical shooter is easier than coming from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which was the entire former roster’s background.
