FaZe Clan is one of the biggest esports organizations in the industry, with an extensive history in Call of Duty and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. With how fast VALORANT’s esports scene is growing, it was just a matter of time before we saw the organization create their own roster to compete in the upcoming tournaments. FaZe Clan announced Jason “jasonR” Ruchelski and Corey “Corey" Nigra as the first two members of their VALORANT rosters.
Corey “Corey” Nigra is a former Overwatch professional player, playing since the game’s first season. Corey already is a decorated player, finishing fifth in the Overwatch Contenders 2018 Season 2: North America and fourth in Stage 4 of the Overwatch League 2019 season. However, the cherry on the top is definitely his recent Overwatch World Cup 2019 title representing the United States of America.
As for Jason “jasonR" Ruchelski, the Canadian is known for his moderately successful Counter-Strike: Global Offensive career. He played as a member of OpTic Gaming for a brief period in 2017 as a stand-in, following the departure of Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz. In that time, jasonR managed to place second in the iBUYPOWER Invitational 2017 - Spring and eighth in the finals of the ESL Pro League Season 5. In his reveal video, he stated he is FaZe Clan’s VALORANT team captain, which will definitely be interesting to see how it goes.
However, what might be a bit surprising is that FaZe Clan don’t plan on fielding Jason “jasonR” Ruchelski for their T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown squad. Corey, on the other hand, will be playing as revealed today, alongside other members trying out to be permanent members of FaZe Clan’s VALORANT roster. According to ESPN’s Tyler Erzberger, he has been considered as the central piece for the team to build around for a while now, and all of these five members have been scrimming together for a while. It will definitely be interesting to see how much power jasonR has in choosing his teammates alongside himself and Corey.
What do you think of FaZe Clan’s VALORANT roster so far? Who do you think they will pick up next to fill in the remaining spots? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below!
The current FaZe Clan roster consists of:
