NSG 2022 Winter Finals Day 1 Recap

The first day of NSG 2022 Winter Championship - Finals has come to an end with great competition. Eight teams out of four groups have proceeded to the upper stage after their success on the inaugural day.

The NSG 2022 Winter Championship Finals tournament features many different talents from North America battling against each other. As we get past the first day, some of these players headlined with incredible performances.

Group A

Reformed took down Moon Raccoons in the opening game of the group with a score of 13-3 on Split. malice666 had a wonderful KAY/O performance, holding a 1.83 rating with 2 K/D. In the meantime, XSET won over Evil Geniuses to face Reformed in the winners round. After beating their opponents with a score of 2-1 in the winners’ match, XSET had their names written on the second day board.

On the other hand, Reformed had their second game against Moon Raccoons, which resulted in a 2-0 sweep for them. Despite losing to XSET, Reformed still made it to day two after their performance in the decider match.

Group B was formed by the most competitive teams on paper with Luminosity Gaming, Complexity, Knights Academy, and NRG Esports challenging against each other. Luminosity and NRG were the winners of the opening games as they moved on to the winners’ match where NRG secured themselves a trip to the upper stage.

Luminosity took on Complexity in the decider match but failed to keep up with their opponents. Complexity secured a 2-1 win over their opponents to clinch the ticket. Joel "jcrueL" Cruel stepped up with Jett and Chamber in his hands, ending the game with a 1.34 rating and 1.53 K/D.

After the opening games were over, NYFU and Version1 moved on to the winners’ match as expected. Both teams had one-sided wins but Version1 were the ones to qualify as they took down Andbox with a score of 2-1. Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro was the main factor of the result as he held a 1.43 rating on top of 283 ACS.

Despite their strong roster, Andbox failed to complete the job against Kansas City Pioneers in the decider game. All three games were close and no one starred statistically but Kansas’ team effort was a lot better.

The opening games of Group D were both one-man shows by Kevin "mina" Nguyen for Zero Marksmen Black and Jake "POACH" Brumleve for Built By Gamers. Both players played their hearts out to meet in the winners’ match. mina put on another show against Built By Gamers but it wasn’t enough as they lost with a score of 2-1. BBG’s William "Will" Cheng stepped up for his team with 70 kills in three maps.

Zero Marksmen Black faced The Guard in the decider match. They had a persuasive win against their opponents in the opening game but this time Trent "trent" Cairns activated beast mode to break the equation. The Guard secured a one-sided 2-0 win to move on in the tournament.
