The last North America winners, XSET, have released Zachary "zekken" Patrone, Brendan "BcJ" Jensen, and the coaches, Don "SyykoNT" Muir and Drew "DrewSpark" Spark-Whitworth. They have also thanked Jordan "AYRIN" He and Rory "dephh" Jackson, who recently announced their search for a team for the upcoming season. According to a report by George Geddes, Syyko could be on his way to Sentinels.

XSET’s VALORANT journey started from the first stage of the VCT 2021 North America Circuit. AYRIN, Bcj, and Syyko were a part of the organization but XSET failed to achieve anything worthy. The scenario didn’t change in the second stage as they got taken down by Envy. Zekken and dephh joined the organization before the Stage 3 Challengers and XSET finished the last stage of the season at the fourth seed. The Last Chance Qualifier result was also not in favor of them and they missed the Champions.

The 2022 season was what XSET aimed for. They started the season by winning the NSG: Winter Championship tournament and placed fourth at the VCT 2022 North America Stage 1 Challengers. The last piece of the roster, Cryocells had also competed under the XSET jersey at the first stage tournament. After that point, XSET’s chemistry and teamwork seemed a lot better than before. The lineup had learned from their mistakes and came back stronger than ever. Firstly, they won another NSG Championship but the mind-blowing performance was at the VCT 2022 North America Stage 2 Challengers. XSET had a great run and ended it with the trophy. They took down OpTic Gaming in four maps, 3-1 to lift the trophy and guarantee a spot at the Masters Copenhagen.

Even though they placed 7th-8th in Copenhagen, XSET players still had a great experience on the international stage. Cryo held a 1.18 rating in 5 maps, placing third on the leaderboard. Lastly, XSET had a chance to show their capabilities in İstanbul, the VALORANT Champions 2022 tournament. The North American organization’s run ended after the lower bracket quarterfinals. AYRIN mentioned that he carried the IGL role throughout this time and he also thanked everyone in the organization for their hard work.

The organization won’t be a part of VCT 2023 Americas League as their application to get a partnership was denied. To help their players build a career at the highest level possible, XSET have mutually parted ways with their roster, announced today. Cryo had already found himself a home, as covered, but the rest of the team is still looking for a new place. Zekken is the leader of the squad in terms of rating, with a solid 1.26. His most picked agent at Champions was Neon. Bcj usually plays initiators and AYRIN is the IGL, as mentioned. Lastly, dephh also shares the same role with Bcj, playing KAY/O and Breach most of the time.

XSET’s roster for the entire 2022-journey was:

United States Matthew "Cryocells" Panganiban United States Brendan "BcJ" Jensen United States Zachary "zekken" Patrone Canada Jordan "AYRIN" He United Kingdom Rory "dephh" Jackson

United States Don "SyykoNT" Muir (Head coach) United Kingdom Drew "DrewSpark" Spark-Whitworth (Assistant Coach)
